If you want to wear it under armor try the SOTECH 6 point harness. The harness is a bit more low profile. Uses Velcro instead of a buckle for the chest straps as well so you don’t have to worry about that as a rub point.

I grabbed a set of the old British PLCE webbing (which isn't as new and nice but only $50) and I'm shocked it's almost the same exact setup. I was looking for ways to load out/ set this type of equipment up and I stumbled upon this - Very helpful!
@ChickenShackIRL
@ChickenShackIRL 4 ай бұрын
that was my initial plan, but every time I found surplus British PLCE it was $75 for the webbing PLUS another $50 to ship it, and I figured if I'm going to pay $125+ for decades old surplus, I may as well pay $280 for the new setup. If I could have found surplus PLCE for $50 out-the-door, I probably would have gone with that as well

Cool video. As guys before said - you should probably get it into zip-bag/vacuum bag/organizer, so you can get the whole kit and get it into your "working space"

This is my third time posting this so if you see it multiple times, my apologies. KZbin appears to be deleting them when I try to edit for some reason. Great review! Love what all you have in your rig. I have a few small suggestions, if I may: 1: radio. I got an Ex Umbris AR152 pouch and attached it to the rear of the left hand mag pouches. Would free up the pouch you are using now for more ammo. 2: TQ: I have mine on the front of the right hand mag pouches so it is easier to access if needed. Seems like it would be hard to get to in all but the best situation as you have it now. 3: IFAK organization. I have all my stuff in an ATS IFAK low profile "pouch" that's made to go into a 3 mag ammo pouch. Keeps everything nice an organized, you don't have to worry about your stuff flying everywhere when you need something, and it frees up that canteen pouch you're using now for other things, like your PVS, field stripped MRE, wet weather top, etc. Anyways, just a few ideas. Love seeing how everyone has their rig set up. Thanks for the review!

Great review of the DZ rig. You should put all your IFAK contents on a ziploc bag. Then you can put your boo-boo kit underneath of it. Overall great loadout.

Why do you need to cut off the original metal buckle? You can keep it, push it back, and add a plastic quick-release buckle

If you don’t want to permanently alter the pack lid straps, you can tuck the metal buckles under and still put the repair buckle in the webbing loop, and it works just fine.
@DaveDave65

One tip I'd suggest for the surface mount buckles is not to melt through or cut at all. Consider using an awl to push the fabric aside, then add the buckles. After they're in, they fabric should just settle around those 4 pillars & there'll be no breakdown in the integrity of the fabric at all. I don't think I'd add them myself due to the risk of breakage as mentioned already bit this should help reduce the risk of damage if you do use it.

The Surefire 300U A version is a bad mounting design. No accounting for tolerances or variations in rail profiles. It rattled horribly on my PDP Pro. Got rid of it. Can't justify paying $300 for a light you have to duct tape to make fit properly.

I love this idea and would love to find the surface mount buckles as I have done the buckles on the lid straps but I have a problem also my pack is modeled after the older Alice packs that were made from heavey cloth canvases but with the same buckles that you are removing I am wondering if the surface mount buckles will work and can be mounted with the same way that you did these?

It is even worse on the compact. You lose any rail on the front of the light so you end up with a tip to it. I’ve closed the gap between the trigger guard and the switch which has worked but I want to try this. Thanks.

Please don't cut the extra webbing off your pack!! You just eliminated the EASIEST way to lash your sleep-system or other large bulky items to the outside of your pack! These things are getting hard to find, and when I find one that's in decent shape but has the flipping straps cut, it's extremely frustrating!
