Speaking to people it seems the general feeling at med schools varied a LOT - some are a lot more stressed especially if it’s quite easy to get kicked off the course. How did manchester seem, and were students generally more relaxed/ stressed?

You mentioned free accommodation in clinical years, does that cover all the time you need? As in you never have to pay for accommodation if your placement is further away?

Hello, I’ve been watching a few of your videos and I’m about to apply for medicine just now as it’s 13th of October already. I’m an international applicant, though. I’d love to get your views on my choices for unis based on my stats. UCAT- 2530 B3 IGCSE- 6 subjects, 5A*, 1A AS levels- 3 subjects, 3A (Bio, Chem, Phy) A levels predicted- 3A* (Bio, Chem, Phy) I have done some work experience by observing at clinics, volunteering in old age homes, teaching underprivileged kids, etc. I’m the headboy of my school as well as the president of my school’s community service club. My personal statement is also looking fairly strong and so should be my letter of recommendation. Due to not being aware that I should’ve taken more subjects at IGCSE, I only took 6 and even though I got an almost perfect grade in that, it’s still limited my application prospects a lot as I can’t apply to universities like Cardiff, queen’s Belfast amongst a few others which score 8 or 9 GCSEs which made me really upset. But anyways, I’m now applying to- Aberdeen Dundee Brunel I’m yet to decide my fourth one and really confused. Should I go with a lot more aspirational one like Cambridge or KCL or Plymouth (I think Plymouth also scores 7 GCSEs? In that case it’s a no no) or stick with the more easier ones like Sunderland, Kent and Medway, etc. Thanks a lot!🥂

Sunderland medical school entry requirements is a minimum of 3 As at A levels,so not exactly low. Despite being a new medical school it's ranked 18th in the latest Guardian ranking while Manchester medical school is ranked at 26, with Aberdeen taking the top spot beating Oxford into second place.😂

I'm a mature student who wants to become a primary school teacher with QTS. I'm going to do my 4 year degree with Nottingham Trent University than University of Nottingham. I like the modern study environment, the student feedback is higher within all aspects of their journey, giving that this Uni is not russle group. The only difference is I'm not an A level student. I'm an Access course student who has achieved top grades!

You have a point given you could get into medical school with 3 grade Es in your A-levels back in the 1970s if your father was a doctor ( 3 grade Bs needed for everyone else ). But medical students who opt to study at universities non-medical employers look down at or have never heard of need to be fairly certain Medicine is what they want to do careerwise. Eg. Non-medical graduates who study at universities such as Liverpool Hope, Chester, Sunderland, and other ex-polytechnics aren’t respected in the non-medical graduate job market. They are not going to get offered jobs working as Investment bankers for example.
