Sorry but I can barely hear you so have to go as much as I wanted to watch your video, straining my ears. 😮

That's strange, it sounds fine on the playback and my speakers are pretty bad. I'll have alook into it.

Yeah. I’ve heard some of those horror stories. That’s terrible you have to make those decisions just to protect yourself. Good luck on book 2!

Thanks. Yeah, I wish I could set up my book the same as a trade publisher, but I just don't have the funds to back it up. Saying that, it is a great opportunity for Indy's to have these print on demand services. When I first started thinking I'll go Indy, the only option was to find a local printer and pay for a crate worth of books then you'd have to go to shows/events to spuk them... No thanks. 😂

I’m so happy you enjoyed Quenched in Blood. You’ll be happy to know that I am diving back into this world as soon as I release the last in my Godless Lands series. I truly appreciate your feedback in the formatting. I will keep that in mind moving forward. 😁

It really was one of the few criticisms I had. I really did enjoy it. Looking forward to a new adventure in the world.

I have also taken the first steps towards audiobook narration.

I enjoyed doing it. And I found Joanna's book really informative. I was sick though, so my voice was shocking. 😂 I'm hoping to improve on my skill this time round and get some better inflection when reading. Good luck with it.

Enders Game or Speaker For The Dead?
@FictionalCrafts4 ай бұрын
Honestly, haven't read either in recent memory. 😂😂😂 I read enders in far back 90s... Can't remember a thing.

Good luck on the reno. I picked up the LeGuun and Card books when you spoke of them on the Discord but haven’t cracked them open just yet. Hoping to get to them in October
@FictionalCrafts4 ай бұрын
Awesome. Let me know what you think of them. I've only read a few chapters of Cards and some of it feels dated (the getting published stuff) but the writing techniques still hit. I'm looking forward to the Le Guin one. I really enjoyed her earthsea books and believe she's got something to say about writing.

Fun video. You are much more disciplined with your TBR though I have the same goal. Currently trying to finish “The Book that Wouldn’t Burn” before my library reclaims it and “The Mercy of the Gods” before the Hugonauts release that one next week, but the former is going to prevent that almost certainly. I’m looking forward to “Wind and Truth”. Also, love the autumnal (vernal) read of LotR. I’ve been rereading it every other year or so and have a group of friends that have a marathon watch of the films every year complete with “hobbit meals”. Really just an excuse to hang out. Good luck!

Disciplined? I just tossed my entire Sept tbr out the window and mood read my own drafts and The Spell Shop. 😂 I've been listening to LotR whilst at home finishing up the current stage of Reno's. It's good to have it going. Just got to Strider. Must admit it's the only audiobook I listen to at 1x speed. I normally listen at at least 2x. I really wanted to get to Mercy soon too, but probably won't have the time before that episode happens. I'm at least hoping to read it before Hugo nominations close so I can consider it. Good luck with the reading and thanks for watching.

Good review, I'm putting this on my to be read list. Also your cat is adorable!

I hope you enjoy it. It was the right book at the right time for me with this one. JJ can be a pain in the butt. He's definitely a character... I'm currently wondering if I can make home some wings for Halloween. 😂

I remembered that both of us couldn’t finish Metro 2023. I also couldn’t get into the Witcher (my bookclub tried it a couple years ago). Keep it up!
@FictionalCrafts5 ай бұрын
I actually enjoyed the first book of the witcher, but just found the second set of short stories so repetitive I just couldn't keep going... Metro will forever be immortalised with the Turkish edition debacle for me. 😂 Thanks for the comment.

Thank you! Yes, I watched your review and was like, yes, you get the same vibe, I thought it was just me. My vlogs feel far too messy and same samey for me at the moment... Can't wait to have our house back in order and my books out again. In the meantime it's a background of home/garage with toddler mess. 🤣 Thanks for the sub.

@@FictionalCrafts it is. And the universe insists I keep it. I wasn't moving it and of all the things it's the one piece of furniture they accidentally packed. I didn't notice and the next day. 🤷🏾♀️ I'm probably the only person who's accidentally packed an entire chair. 🤦🏽♀️

Now that's a story to tell after the move is finished! The universe definitely is saying "keep it". Good luck with getting settled.

I love when random ideas for tweaks to characters or plots appear in our minds!

It happens all too often for me! 😂 Too many ideas, not enough hours to write them all into books. But it feels great having those little bursts of inspiration.

The Dark Forest doesn't have chapters in the physical print either, and I read the original Chinese version it's the same, the book was divided into three parts, each focusing on different time period.
@FictionalCrafts Жыл бұрын
That's good to know! My copy is a recent print and it looks like they've tried to put some chapters in but I think it would read very interestingly without them. The pure information shoved at you without a break is a technical choice that can work well. I did not enjoy the book, Dirt Music by Tim Winton but I cannot deny the author's decision to not have quotation marks made for a very different reading experience.
