So Hughie got sexually assaulted too many times this season up to this point (for almost no reason for the plot might I add). Several times from the deviants in the bunker that they should have dug up WAY more information about - to repeated abuse from a literal mind reader, 100% exact copy shapeshifter, with a perfect memory from Starlight. On top of losing his dad, once to illness and once to absent mother's decision to V-up his dad with brain damage, 99.9999% of people would break down completely after so much trauma all at once, especially since Hughie understandably broke down after being assaulted in the mansion. She is ripping him as her insecurities along with diminished powers could not save Hughie from the shapeshifter he never saw coming for 10 DAYS, and they had to rely on the very human MM(!) to save Hughie from TecKnight, completely botching the mansion party plan, going in blind against supes with no exit plan if something goes wrong. If they are trying to write her as a strong female character, then the writers are failing. Even with Hughie's help, she put the the Boys and her BETROTHED into catastrophic situations they had to be plot-armored out of! She is not developing past points she should have already addressed in previous seasons. Her reputation was already publicly trashed by the opposition, she already "got over" the fact that her sociopath mom groomed her to be Starlight, having no problem holding up longer than anyone solo against Soldier Boy, BUT not being in full control of her vast power YET AGAIN, blinding a protestor and then acting like she hasn't hurt people before. /rant. I hope season 5 is less about shock factor and more about a good story, but I am not expecting much.

Sam was a much better character design in television than other iterations of “the crazy guy.” Most notably Haywire from Prison Break. Sam absolutely works. Wish Gen V was a better overall series. It has some memorable characters.

@@Aex89 Willingly engaging in sex under false pretenses legally constitutes "Rape by Deceit". Probably the only reason he didn't completely break down is the fact she looked like Annie, yes. But it still wasn't actually her - meaning it was SA even if it wasn't recognized by the writers.

I love the scene where Annie confronts Hughie on the shifter. People act like she’s being unreasonable and petty, that she’s entirely wrong to blame him for not being aware of the imposter. The point isn’t the imposter, it’s the fact that Annie is insecure about herself, and she thinks Hughie doesn’t want her flaws, he just wants the idealized version of her.

I think so too, she spent 10 days trying to escape with no one realising that she was imprisoned and the shifter tearing down her self eseem, while being described the perfect life Hughie was living with a fake, it's understandable that she would be mad. Even if it's unreasonable to expect that Hughie should have known right away that it wasn't her, he still didn't question the fake Annie behavieur for 10 days, until the shifter basically outed herself.
