Ahh I love seeing priory mentioned! It’s been nearly a year since I finished it and still think about it all the time. Such a beautiful tale. The way all the POV’s slowly connect to eachother is something so brilliant I cannot even explain, each page is so so worth it.

For those who like YA low fantasy, with royals, politics, sword-fighting and treachery, I highly HIGHLY recommend the Ascendance series by Jennifer A. Nielsen. The first book is the False Prince and it is amazing. Probably nobody cares, but I hope this interests someone. Have a great day and week!😊

I'm cackling that Lin Manuel Miranda blurbed name of the wind, SIR WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?? Also your scholomance thoughts hurt me BUT I'll say temeraire is entirely different, so depending on what it was you didn't like about that series you might still like the Dragon series!

If you want to try a historical fiction with a lot of political intrigue, I’d definitely recommend Robert Harris. He’s my go-to author when I need a break from fantasy/sc-fi because he writes about historical events that everyone knows but adds some amazing twists that make you question everything you read.

Try historical fiction which will feel familiar with some of the fantasy you read. I love Kate Quinn. Since you love mystery I'd start with the newer Briar Club but her claim to fame was the Alice Network. I haven't read anything of hers that I didn't love. Strong female characters, clever plots and brilliant character building. I'm pretty selective when I leave our sacred ground of Fantasy/SciFi but Kate Quinn never fails to hit me with a perfect palate cleanser.

Look at you with the new camera! I am also going to cut down on book buying. I want to read at least two books I have either on my shelf or kindle before I buy a new book. I’ve also made a list of 25 “no ifs ands or buts” books on my shelf that will be read this year. And similar to you most are series I’ve started but not finished. Lol
