This is one of the greatest bands of all time, no really they are something very special. Behold a higher realm dear friends, for these are musical avatars, this happens but once every few centuries. This is creativity to be cherished, adored and incorporated into your very soul. The blissful freedom in everything they do is the most healing, invigorating, inspiring and fulfilling thing I have ever experienced in a musical performance. Simply gorgeous and a true angelic gift to the world.

It's when great eccentrics like Daevid Allen meet great performers like Steve Hillage that actually makes Britain great you know ❤
@pagancidergod884026 күн бұрын
Not wishing to piss on your chips but Daevid was Australian. Over the past half century or so Gong has included people from France, Switzerland, Fiji and Argentina. Current front man Kavus Torabi is Anglo-Iranian. They were founded in Paris and their first 5 years were spent in France. Still some of the finest music ever created by mortals though. Make Internationalism Great Again!

@@pagancidergod8840 Steve Hillage: I first met Daevid in the autumn of 1972, in London, in the apartment of the hippie poet and musician Lady June, where Kevin Ayers lived. 👍

@@shanemolloy7862 I see your point. Britain became one of the places to be for people who wanted to make interesting music. It doesn't suggest that he was British. In fact, I would say that the longer he went on, the more Australian he became. Most importantly, the music was great and remains great to this day.
@shanemolloy786217 күн бұрын
@pagancidergod8840 Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove was a hyper multi ethnic community and some incredible musicians found their sound at places like the all saints church hall and Portchester hall. Dave Allen was so loved in the UK we tend to forget he was an Aussy. Most British folk would support an Aussy sportsperson over an American if the Brit gets knocked out of a competition. We are often in ae if Aussy grit, strength of character and stoic approach to difficulties. I mean all British f1 fans are super excited for young Oscar Piastry with Norris next season. They could simply wipe the floor with the competition. Many people rate Oscar with more potential than Norris. It's about time for another Aussy F1 champ. Mark Webber would have been an excellent F1 champ, so let's see what Oscar can achieve. 👍

I was part of the production team for this and I recorded and mixed the audio. I wasn't expecting the audience to sing along and only had a couple of mics out front to capture clapping. The night was truly magical especially when everyone joined in and I was determined to reflect that. I think we had about 6 cameras each one as a matter of course records audio but you usually never use it but I took them all from the sides and back and mixed it with the main audio and all these years later listening back to this I think it worked!

I've been interested and curious about this "group" for many years now. But let's face the music: this is moreso performance art than "music", and the main unit behind this group has always just been Homer Flynn. Even the names of the "eyeball members" are revealed at the beginning of the dvd, and its members are constantly changing. I also don't like how half of Homer's face is revealed during the 13th anniversary shows, considering the fact that part of the "concept" of this performance art that he derived is based on the sole secrecy of who its members are. I also think that Homer should have never come out as himself in interviews throughout time, as it's way too obvious that his voice matches that of the "lead Singer". There was another guy who I also believe played a big role up through the 90s in The Residents, but I believe he died several years back, and left before the "group" long before his death. I think his name was Hardy fox. The residents are a highly challenging listen that requires a lot of caffeine for me to fully appreciate. But I still love collecting their stuff, for some reason, and I'm still highly curious about their previous projects and discography. I'm also curious about what is happening during each "fade and cut" in this performance. More spoken story line, maybe?
