I enjoy the game & series. This games bugs, along with Atreus’ 2 hr disney UN-thrill ride killed it for me for a few days. I had to put it down & play my mobile go to’s just to get steam to finish the Atreus bore fest & finally get to more good stuff.

Maybe more HD-2D remakes. Would love ports of 7-9 on a modern console. I am hoping a reveal of Dragon Quest 12 at the Switch 2 direct. It would be a big game to get people excited for the system, especially for Japan. I believe development started in 2019 so that is probably why they have been quiet for so long. Probably just taking their sweet time plus the remakes do help make the wait less of a pain. I'm open to seeing the changes they will make with 12 depending on how they are handled. I don't mind the series trying new things it could bring more life into the series and hell maybe make it more popular in the west. A more serious tone, a game aimed at adults and a voice protag is something I would be fine with. Voice acting has been a thing for the series since 8 so the voice protag wouldn't be out there. For me I don't think the series will radically change to something unrecognized. Yuji Horii is still in charge and Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama I imagine did some work before their deaths. I think it will still be recognizably Dragon Quest when it comes out. Good Video

This video is just a ton of Goomba Fallacy. The vast majority of people saying they wish the Switch 2 looked more innovative are not the same people that said the next Nintendo console should just be a basic iteration of the switch. You guys spent so much of this video getting about people I’ve never seen online (people still mad about SNES censorship, switch leakers motivated because they’re Sony fans, etc.) that this video was less about the switch 2 and more about complaining about people complaining about the Switch 2. Me personally? I’m not inherently excited. Nothing they showed off looked really exciting-I don’t like the Joy Cons as controllers, they still don’t have adaptive triggers, the mouse functionality is useless to me cuz I don’t play in front of a flat surface-but it wasn’t a bad reveal. I’m just waiting for the Switch 2 direct to actually see games.

You just like to criticize without doing any actual research. I used to be kinder, but since you keep running off at the mouth making false accusations that are easily debunked, I'm going to get tougher. It's one thing to criticize our videos, but make some actual good points. Anyone who can go to N4G, X, or comments on KZbin will run into these people. Lots of people still think Nintendo censors games. When we tell them they don't, they act like we're lying. And, we spent the majority on what we expected from the Switch 2. Also, what did you expect? This is the Switch 2 to be? What was underwhelming? Did you expect the Switch 2 to make your own dinner? Seriously. Stop being a troll.

If it is true (which it might not be, I would hope that Nintendo finds fun ways of using it, but at this point I don’t have any opinion on it besides “wow that might be a tad neat”

Don't forget that it's no longer like their startup where Platinum Games used to strike deals with publishers left and right. There will never be another SEGA 5 again (Vanquish, Madworld, Anarchy Reign, Bayonetta, Infinite Space). A lot of their games got delisted too.....Transformers Devastation was fantastic, but you can no longer play it. Neither is Legend of Korra... It just turned out that character action games aren't huge sellers. Sure, Bayonetta sold a lot, but it doesn't stack up to Devil May Cry. Vanquish took years to sell well... This industry is strange.

Well to be fair the Switch did come out 3 years before the PS5 so it’s not really a fair comparison, PS5 has only been out for 4 years and it has almost sold 70M units, it’s probably at 70M now after the holidays, that’s a pretty good number to be fair But regarding the PS2 vs Switch situation yeah I don’t think the Switch will ever even reach 154M units sold, but even tho I still find it extremely weird and questionable that they wouldn’t want to update the number and reveal that it 160M all along, 12 YEARS LATER! Like why now Sony? Even if the number is legit which it does seem like it is, they definitely just now decided to reveal that number because they got scared Nintendo was gonna beat their record

True, almost everything Platinum does outside of their own IPs is trash... it's as if they hate doing licensed work and it shows. Bad thing is, it has kinda stained their record for good quality games.

I feel like you sensationalized a lot of stuff. Square Enix definitely had a role to play in Babylon’s Fall’s failure, but a lot of statements by Platinum’s top brass shows that they were fully committed to live service for a while. Astral Chain also isn’t as popular as you claim it is. It was well received, but not critically huge and didn’t sell amazingly. I’d argue that Hi-Fi Rush is a stronger new IP than Astral Chain, and that’s only looking at character action games. I feel like Platinum’s downfall is mainly just a result of mismanagement, development issues, and live service. Their last notable game they released was Bayonetta 3, but that was delayed a ton because it initially started as an open world game that the team couldn’t make work and then had to be restructured. It’s arguably their best release of the 2020s, but even then that’s not saying much because Bayonetta 3 is definitely flawed in a lot of components. The mishandling of projects like Scalebound and Project GG also must’ve drained a ton of resources, both human and economic. This leads to a situation where Platinum the company wants to pivot to the highest money making ventures, while the entire team is burnt creatively. I know you didn’t want to assume the rumors were true, but going off the evidence I would not be surprised if there was a massive talent drain from Platinum soon.

We didn't talk about popularity. We talked about how good it is. It sold 1.5 million, and that's not great, but they more than made the money back. It's an IP that can get more popular with more entries. Hi-Fi Rush is a stronger new IP? Well, I wouldn't say that. Astral Chain has a unique combat system, and style. Well, Hi-Fi Rush is also very cool. So, please don't say we sensationalized something when we didn't. Also, we do agree that mismanagement is gonna be the reason that Platinum goes under (if they do go under).

Comparing it to other CAGs (which is a relatively small genre) I would still argue Hi-Fi Rush had more cultural acclaim and impact, even if just because people looked back on it more after Tango was initially closed. But that’s only considering character action games. If we look at all new IPs since 2019, I don’t think Astral Chain would even crack top 25 in terms of cultural acclaim. Again, I really liked Astral Chain. But this is comparing it to stuff like Elden Ring, It Takes Two, Hades, Balatro, Ghost of Tsushima, Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium, Stray, Metaphor, etc.

Yeah, I'd say, Honestly as a fan of JRPGS and RPGS in general, being able to take it with you mobile combined with the Turn based nature of traditional ones that really don't even need to be paused because of it makes for a very sweet mix. I first heard about that in reviews from other RPG enthusiast, but of course I am one myself. Although I will caveat that I don't have as much time as I used to. OH! did I tell you? I'm going back to school for Electrical Engineering. College awaits In January. I can't believe they're charging close to 60 for this game though, It's Quarter 4 officially. I mean, I get it, it's just that you'd think they'd lower the price point for at least the initial launch window just to boost Sales into the stratosphere. But no, the Traditional thing happened here, where Early Adopters pay more than late comers. In a few years, unless Square Enix goes out of business it probably won't skyrocket in value the way Lunar 2 did but still. Oh btw I'm not sure that price quote is what it is everywhere, it's just the sticker I saw at Fred meyers. 59.99
