Awesome! When I had bought Smeared at the time, I didn't know who was who, and who sang what song. The liner notes didn't help, because all members sang and played instruments. All I knew is that whoever sang and or wrote "Sugartune" had written the best song and had the best voice. I still feel that way. Pat's songs always tend to be the big hit singles, and Chris Murphy is a ridiculously close 2nd. But for me, Pat is John Lennon in the Beatles or Brett Gurewitz in Bad Religion; even amongst great writers and great talents, their songs manage to soar a bit higher.

My first Sloan song, way back in, what, 1992? '93? On 96.3 out of Ann Arbor, probably. Underwhelmed is my all time fave, but this one will always hold a special place in my heart as well.

This video was shot by The Super Friendz' Matt Murphy, while the band were on their 1993 US Tour, in the Spring of 1993.This video has never been released until now.

I was literally JUST listening to this yesterday asking myself “why did they never make a video for this classic?” And one day later, this is uploaded!

So awesome...wish someone could find and fix all the old vids from canadian indi bands before they are lost. I love a band called Germans (from Toronto) and they are slowly fading away.

How many here watching this now because they're still buzzing from the Smeared shows this past weekend? ❤

I spent most of summer of 92 in Southern Ontario trying to track down this song. Every time it came on the radio (CFNY greatest radio station ever, until it wasn't) it was in the middle of what felt like 500 in a row. Finally found out the name of the song and band, get to the record store and find Smeared in the new releases. Got home, hit play, Underwhelmed is the first song on the album... not disappointed, but definitely underwhelmed. The album version seemed too bright and poppy when compared to this somewhat darker, distortion heavy version I was used to hearing on the radio. Still, I came out of the story with a new Canadian band to enjoy for a few decades, which really is the best part of the story.
