people think they need long fingers to play piano. Those stubby little fingers sound like a symphony from heaven.

Singing about a city with an ancient Greek name from another great historical city from Ancient Greece. Wonder if there was some significance here? Well done Sir Elton.

I used to be a rolling stone you know If a cause was right I'd leave to find the answer on the road I used to be a heart beating for someone But the times have changed The less I say the more my work gets done 'Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom From the day that I was born I've waved the flag Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man, yeah Gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind Shine the light, shine the light Shine the light, won't you shine the light Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do If you choose to you can live your life alone Some people choose the city (some people the city) Some others choose the good old family home (some others choose a good old) I like living easy without family ties (living easy) Till the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me Right between the eyes 'Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom From the day that I was born I've waved the flag Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man Mm mm, gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind Shine the light, shine the light Shine the light, won't you shine the light Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do Oh, Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind Shine the light, shine the light Shine the light, won't you shine the light Philadelphia freedom, I love, You know I love , you know I love you Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom I love you Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom You know that I love you Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom Don't you know that I love you Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom Don't you know that I love you Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom

Saw an interview of Sir Elton where he was talking about his time at the Royal Academy. Said he was never good enough to play in the orchestra, he did sing in the choir. His talent was his ability to play back a piece of music he’d only heard once & play it identically, at a very young age. His music writing ability is phenomenal, he’s stated many times that when he gets lyrics from Bernie, he “sees the music like a movie” and it happens very quickly for every song they’ve written.

Don't try to understand cuz the guys got the best of the best s*** with millions of dollars probably a full size grand piano that's digitalized or some shit it sounds so fucking good that intro I've listened to a million times.
@jordan6988

its very easy to understand lol Elton has real Acoustic Yamaha grand its modified with pickups so he can use MIDI the MIDI cords run to a rack of digital piano modules in the back off stage. His sound engineer is off controlling the layering and sound levels for each song. Everything is Eltons playing its running thru a the rack and to the stage the rack has its a Roland MKS-20 (rack version of RD-1000), an old Technics module called the WSA1R, and Yamaha Motif ES units. Its easy to achieve the sound! I dont own a Technics unit I have the Yamaha Grand and the MKS-20 from a program called Keyscape. Its a computer VST software that has pulled the sounds from the MKS and TONNNSSSS of other pianos and sampled them into this software so I can now layer the MKS with the Yamaha grand preset and achieve Eltons sound its insane!!!!! If you havent checked out Keyscape I recommend it to everyone who cant get their hands on the older musical instruments. Its the best of the best and the sounds are the purest most beautiful thing Ive ever heard. heres a vid on it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ28k6CulqeiY6s

I Cry at Night Elton John Album: A Single Man This house that I live in has no reason This house that I sleep in has no purpose It has a bed and a few old chairs Three flights up, two flights of stairs But it has no reason Then someone shot through the tire swing The dogs barked and bayed in the winter and spring And the ivy that hung now sadly clings To a dying season And I cry at night when the lights go out And the green eyes fuse and the full moon shouts From road maps and red lines to lipstick lies And when the lights go out it's tough to survive This man holds a hand that shows a tremble This man that I live in bears his faults He has a heart and a well worn soul Ten years a slave to rock and roll But he has to tremble For the yellow grass on the sun burnt lawn Sleeps in her seed from the sunset to dawn And just like your love that's come and gone It goes on breathing And I cry at night when the lights go out And the green eyes fuse and the full moon shouts From road maps and red lines to lipstick lies And when the lights go out it's tough to survive And when the lights go out it's tough to survive Written by: BERNIE TAUPIN, ELTON JOHN Lyrics © Universal Music Publishing Group ℗ 1978 Mercury Records Limited
