Thank you for taking the time to upload these, was a great time watching.

Thank you that's nice of you to say. I wish the quality was better than it is, but sadly the tapes they were recorded on (like most of my old VHS tapes) have suffered badly over the years through tape wear and so on. I stilll have the oroginal tapes and wil keep hold of them. I do try to capture my recordings in the best quality possible, but it sometimes depends on the recorder. Tip: always a good idea to get a VCR with a TBC (time base corrector) on it which can be handy if you have jumpy tapes that the machines tracking can't stabilise, and also a good idea to capture using an S-video input rather than using composite cables. Panasonic VHS/DVD combi's are good machines to do this, and use a decent capture device and not a cheap chinese knock-off.

Watching Fred, swinging back and forth on his bosun's chair at a height of over 150 feet, brings me close to nausea. I couldn't do that for all the money on this earth. Fred had nerves of steel.

Fred demolished a lot of chimneys . Some had hair round them 😉😂

That clip from Heartbeat. The lady played Selwyn Froggats mother.
@peterarmstrong673026 күн бұрын
Claude made Heartbeat , it’s that simple. I remember reading about the regrets he had and his main regret was that in the early sixties he was a married man but doing the comedy circuit and the odd film, he was earning £1000 a week which for those days was huge money, infact he was at one point making the most money of all the other comedians at the time but he blew it as fast as he got it and had affairs and drinking too much . He said that if he’d done the right thing by his family and himself that he could have retired a millionaire by the early 70s . I believe his wife forgave him and was very much in love with him but by the time he’d realised how lucky he was most of the money was gone and they struggled for a while until he started having hit tv shows . I think it’s in his book tbh . A fantastic actor/comedian and very underrated imo . Thanks for entertaining us Bill and RIP . 💙

Different regions must've shown different adverts; I distinctly recall seeing ads for "Cafe Hag" during the London /Thames ad break.
@Embracing01Ай бұрын
They did, many regions showed either completely different ads or the ads were the same but slightly different. For example, the ad here for Weetflakes was edited differently to another region showing of the film from the same date (can't remember off the top of my head which region, but I think you can find it on youtube), and most of the the rest of the adverts were different apart from the Bradford and Bingley ad. Why they used a different version of the same ad in both region broadcasts I don't know, maybe one was longer or shorter in length.

Why would you include Barry Humpries aka Dame Edna ?? Nobody in the States would have heard of him...ridiculous
@Embracing01Ай бұрын
I think it's because Heston appeared on a Dame Edna show once where he pretends to fall down steps after standing up from a wheelchaire and the audience laughs as he does so. Alot of Brits who watched that show wiill remember him appearing on it. He may've been a frend of Barry Humfries. Benny Hill was a British comic and he had a big following in America, so maybe Dame Edna did as well. Dame Edna was popular in Australia I think.

There are certain actors meant for the Big Screen Charlton Heston is definitely one of them.

I'm surprised that no manufacturer of men's caps, back then didn't use Fred for their advertising. Who better than Fred could they have chosen. It could have been the Dibnah Cap. 😊

I doubt very much if there is a man in the U.K. today, who has the skills and knowledge that Fred had, be it repairing and rebuilding steam engines or as a steeplejack, including the demolition of huge chimneys.

That's how it goes, as much as he was able to put together a steam engine and drop a chimney, and that is saying something, he couldn't keep his family together. And it happened again. There is only so much a wife and family can put up with.

Even the extension which he built onto his house was an incredible piece of workmanship. And I daresay that Fred completed that to a higher specification, than your average building contractor would have done. From such humble beginnings, he achieved great things in his life. His life was cut short, but it wasn't a life wasted, considering everything that he accomplished. He became a national treasure, which was fully deserved. R.I.P. Fred, you were a great man.

She did end up leaving him for another man, its the kids that suffer the most when a married couple divorce! and the mans bank account! The church of England have never been short of money as they never spend anything on their properties, they lay that burden on their congregations, they first get them to invest their hearts in the building and then their bank accounts!
