You can take away the drums, bass, and singing and the guitar playing still sounds amazing. Masterclass

Eddie Van Halen, the best rhythm guitarist of all time. Diamond Dave was the reason for all their hits. If you actually listen to this "isolated" guitar, there are several guitars and kinda sloppy. But, hey, that's rock and roll. VH ain't nothin without Lee Roth

This man was a genius. I like the part that sounded like your scratching a vinyl across the grooves, with the needle, an arcade game, and R2D2 all at once. 1:55-2:05. Insane talent.

2:23 So dang funky - Mike playing behind the beat (aka ZZ Top). So much grove in Van Halen, and everyone just talks about the "flashy guitar"

Listen to Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen! They are TIGHT! Michael Anthony was the PERFECT bassist/vocalist for this band. He did his job incredibly well - on bass laying a solid foundation to support Eddie's playing, and providing backing vocals that took the whole band to another level (think Roger Taylor of Queen). I just don't get the disrespect from the Brothers.

This song is perfect example of why Dave and Eddie worked together so well. The sinister vibe of the music is perfectly matched by the dark lyrics. "Living hell" Well said Dave.

You talk about things that nobody cares Wearing out things that nobody wears You're calling my name but I gotta make clear I can't say, baby, where I'll be in a year Some sweat hog mama with a face like a gent Said my get up and go, must've got up and went Well I got good news, she's a real good liar 'Cause the backstage boogie sets your pants on fire Sweet emotion Sweet emotion I pulled into town in a police car Your daddy said I took it just a little too far You're telling her things but your girlfriend lied You can't catch me 'cause the rabbit done died Yes it did Stand in the front just a shakin' your ass I'll take you backstage, you can drink from my glass I'll talk about something you can sure understand 'Cause a month on the road and I'll be eating from your hand

Try playing it half speed. And you can really hear all the little nuances. It happens so fast in the track. Edward's performance is so far beyond things like speed and technique. No one will ever sound like him and very few can even get close. I've heard some of the best living players talking about this and how Edward always found unique ways to approach things...like most people would do it this way, but Edward found a more personal approach that worked better within his style.

The comments are really a testament to how people really know the band's music very well. These are garage band hobby players, not Led Zeppelin, recorded with cheap equipment.
