A question that I have had for a while is, should all unused ports be plugged with the provided plugs? If I am using it to only dry and not feed filament to my X1C should I plug all of the 8 ports or leave any open for ventilation?
@Creatorrific18 сағат бұрын
I usually have at least one port open when its not feeding, mainly because I can't be bothered. It performs great for me that way and I've heard people suggest that it ought to have vents anyway so I don't think think leaving à few holes unplugged is perfectly fine. Give it a test. Hope this helps!

Hey! I just came across your material and I have a question. After a longer period of use, how do you rate the operation of this AMS holder in the position above the printer? Doesn't this type of installation cause additional vibrations that could affect the print quality? I'm just gathering information before buying my first printer and that was my first thought. Thanks in advance for your answer!
@Creatorrific18 сағат бұрын
It doesn't cause vibrations that affect the print quality and I don't feel that it puts stress on the printer's frame since it's solid but the thing to be caution about is material. I used Sunlu's PLA Meta and haven't had any issues in 1 year but people have said that it cracks over time from the weight of the spools. Make sure you download/print the spool locks as well though!! They spools have been know to slide off.

@@Creatorrific Thanks! I'll keep that in mind :)

what material did you print the AMS top munt with?
@Creatorrific18 сағат бұрын
I used Sunlu's PLA Meta but you should go with as a durable material a you can like PETG or ABS even since some people have mentioned that it can sag or break over tinre from the weight.

Where do I get the poop bucket?
@akirabka86593 күн бұрын
I finished building mine a few days ago, and wow, I’m impressed. I live in extremely humid area and this enclosure is managing it like a champ. My current humidity level right now is 27% RH, down from 60% in my home. I’ve also seen significant print quality and surprisingly, print time improvement. I printed the same part I did a week ago, with zero software adjustment, and it completed 15 minutes quicker. And this has been consistent with every print I’ve done since. I cannot recommend this more, it’s well worth the investment.
@Creatorrific3 күн бұрын
That's awesome. Glad it worked out well for you. Down to 27% from 60%, that's a huge improvement! Thanks for watching and happy 3D printing!
@akirabka86593 күн бұрын
@@Creatorrific the only extra step I took was coating the enclosure with a few coats of clear lacquer. Since the material used in this build is in itself hygroscopic, I think that extra layer should extend the use of the silica as well.

Do you still like it? Is it easy to change spools and how ofte do you need to change the humidity beads?
@Creatorrific4 күн бұрын
For me, the deseccant beads become saturated pretty quickly so it required charging often making it less hands-off. Drying isn't required for all filaments to produce good prints either like PLA so it might not make sense fit some people.. I have an electronic filament dryer now that works well - the Sunlu Filadryer S4.

It takes a bit more than half of a 1kg spool (575g).

@NebulaHatesWatchdog6 күн бұрын
6:40 that’s only a problem if you’re doing it wrong. I never even considered it to be a problem coming from my ender printer which has no alignment to the magnetic sheet whatsoever. The A1 has a top notch on the buildplate, and it had walls at the top on the bed. Rather than placing it down starting with the side just slot that part in and drop it down.

when using the transparent PETG what settings are you using? I’m new to this 3d printing and can’t seem to get the settings right for it.
@Creatorrific4 күн бұрын
I used Overture's transparent PETG set to 240°C nozzle, 85°C bed temp and 40-45mm/s print speed for the initial layer. I also cleared my buildplate using warm soapy water for the best adhesion possible. Hope this helps.

Thanks for watching! I like the A1 for it's larger build volume but you can get the A1 Mini + AMS Lite for nearly the same price as the A1 itself. Either way, both are an excellent choice especially as a first 3D printer.

Is the top mount sturdy enough if printed with PLA?
@Creatorrific8 күн бұрын
I'd go with PETG which is a bit more sturdy or even ABS if possible. Some people have reported their top-mount cracking over time from stress. I haven't had any issues with the Sunlu PLA Meta White that I used though.

Bambu Lab printers usually work well out of the box. Maybe something got messed up during shipping. Try bed tramming, checking the hotend to make sure its secured in there properly, and running the on-screen calibration afterwards.

I haven't noticed any impact in terms of print quality. I coùld be causing the print head to work harder though and affect ́the long-term ́life of the part, not sure. I'm not worried though, I think it's fine and makes minimà impact.

Is there a new or upgraded top mount available for the AMS? I believe I heard about it somewhere, but I can’t recall the channel or video where I came across that information. nice video, wish you'd talked a bit more about feeding into the Bambu AMS as mine is top mounted like your setup. I was wondering about the feed length and it's exposed until it gets into the ams to a1 ptfe tubes. Saw you then had a single roll linked direct and using ptfe as bypassing the ams... but then what about feed as the ams helps feed the filament into the a1? however, happy new year and looking forward to more great videos from your channel
@Creatorrific19 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Sorry, I tried keep the focus on the S4 for this video. I'll detail how it works with the AMS Lite in a future upload. To make sure that the entire length of filament was dried, I only connected it to my printer after the S4 ran its cycle. The S4 feeds directly into the AMS Lite without issues, you just need to be mindful of how it's placed so there's no resistance and the rollers can do their jobs easily. The external spool was just for the TPU but that gave me an opportunity to test printing using the S4 with and without the AMS Lite. Both worked well.
@MarkThomas12320 күн бұрын
At 10:03 you show the Sunlu loading two different filaments to the A1 Printer with AMS Lite.. I don't have one to look at. Are you running the filament through the AMS Lite? Using the Feed Motors to run the spools in the Sunlu? Thanks for another good video..
@Creatorrific19 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, I ran spools into the AMS Lite from the S4 and worked well, producing nice looking prints from dried filament. The rollers in the S4 allow it to feed into the AMS Lite, you just need to be mindful of how it's positioned so that there's no resistance. The S4 goes well AMS since both use up to 4 spools.
@AmatooMoo20 күн бұрын
Just a warning for the top mount! A fair few people, including me, have had it crack and break. It fell onto the print head and I was lucky that mine didnt break but others have had to replace the whole thing. You will need longer screws then the kit suggest and a fair few people say to wrap it with cable ties it case it cracks. You will also need spool locks, even more so if you don’t use Bambu spools, they can wiggle and fall off onto your build place and nossle head.
@Creatorrific20 күн бұрын
👍 Thanks for the heads up. I've heard that the spools could potentially slide off but hadn't heard of top mount cracking. Sounds like a nightmare. Glad your 3d printer wasn't damaged. I'll probably end up removing my top mount to mod my AMS Lite + Filadryer S4 into a single unit.

Thanks for your great content. Have you actually used the splitter to add an external filament spool? I would like to try it but am a bit afraid something may go wrong.
@Creatorrific20 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I have, actually, and it works well. I used the splitter to externally print a spool of TPU the other day - no issues. The PTFE tube connecting my AMS Lite doesn't have any issues feeding either. As long as you take the time to clear the path/holes after printing to make sure there's no obstructions, it should work fine.
