@D Anemon no, Mongols and Turkic people were not the same people altough lived in the same land. So cultures are almost same but people are not. Also Turkic and Turkish/Turk has different meanings. Turks are one of the members of Turkic people just like Tuvas or Kazakhs. Though you can say Mongols culturally way more closer to Tuvas than Turkish people because, as you mention, different evolvings.

@D Anemon Chinese and Japanese have waaaaaaaay different backgrounds (if we're talking about where they came from. Medieval Japan affected from China a lot but they do not share common origins in any means. Their relations are like relations between Persians/Arabians and Turks) But yes Mongolians and Anatolian Turks have born in the same region thus have lots of common grounds.
