Honestly this charger has been a game changer for us. My previous EV had a charger included in the purchase by Podpoint. Honestly the install work was good and clean, but the actual performance of the charger is hot garbage. Gets too cold at night? Charger stops. Direct sunlight in the day? Charger stops. Plugging the cable into the charger first and then into the car? Won’t charge; have to plug it into the car first then the charger or it freaks out…. Even then it can often take 4-5 unplug and re plug attempts before it plays ball. Cable lock has failed 4 times in the last two years and wouldn’t disconnect, so had to leave my cable in it for weeks until they could get a tech to come out…who then didn’t have the part to fix the charger (that took another 11 days on the last one). Granted, my experience isn’t the same as everyone else’s, but it’s pretty rubbish to be so flaky and unreliable from day one with a company that makes any excuse to shirk their warranty. So we replaced it with a Hypervolt. Never fails to charge, never fails to unlock, the app actually shows the charging metrics of what’s happening, communicates with the car and tells me what my battery percentage. Great experience so far!

can you turn off the lights for this charger? I live in an area where there is a load of local idiots that would probably see a shiny thing and either lick it or try and yank it out the wall. I will have a camera up. But this is the best looking charger I have seen. Im going out tomorrow to look at the car and hopefully bringing it home and I need a charger asap

@@DrGeazy Yes, you can change them (including turn them off entirely) in the app. Hope that helps.

But you still can’t set a different charge mode for each scheduled time slot. If you want to automatically charge from solar during the day but full power from a cheap tariff at night, you can’t. You can manually change the settings from boost to super eco in the morning then you’d better remember to change it back to boost in the evening or you’ll get no charge over night. It’s a shame Hypervolt are spending all their R&D on frivolous niceties that nobody needs or wants and not on something many many people want. Zappi anyone?

Appreciate your comment John, unfortunately Zappi does not support this feature. Hypervolt however does. blog.hypervolt.co.uk/en/engineering/multi-mode-scheduling

@hypervolt could you please do a video for members of the public who are doing self installs please? I am not saying that it cannot be done, however, THE DANGERS most be highlighted. The install must be notified to LABC and DNO. Notifying the DNO is very important. Another aspect is demand this has to taken in consideration. Supply fuse rating must be checked. If you are amending the current installation the supply tails and earthing conductors must be at the sizing set out in BS7671:2020. I left the best for last "Safe Isolation". It's a lot more than simply running a bit of cable and adding a breaker.

Living on an island, I bought a HV 2 direct for self- install. Hypervolt was really easy to deal with. Looking forward to seeing new V2X technology coming out, hopefully as an upgrade to HV2.

@@digitaria SWA to 450mm depth. I had an NICEIC Contractor do the final connect through new 100A Consumer Unit and test. The DNO is bloody useless. I've had a request in for 18 months for a change of meter since getting an ASHP installed.
