Nice. I'm doing the same thing with my R1250GS. I am trying to decide if I want an Android tablet or the Garmin Tread Overlander. Thork sells the Garmin with DMD2 already loaded - the best of both worlds. However, the price is painful. I have the Carpe Iter BMW controller already installed. If anyone has trouble getting it to work with DMD2, use the DMD2 Beta version.
@Rushhourmc

When you have used DMD2 you don’t go back to Garmin :) The good thing with DMD-865 is that it is also a good tablet for movies, email, social media etc. Cheers // Johan

I’m about to install BMW controller and Carpe Iter V4b Tablet. Are you having problems with the BMW controller (company seems have had a falling out with Thork)? Is it still working on the beta?
@Brad-RB
@Brad-RB 9 ай бұрын
@@drsimonastor I decided to go with the Garmin Tread because I already had so much information in the Garmin system. It is working great so far. The controller worked with my Android tablet and the DMD2 beta. You need to change a setting to get the map to recenter with the wheel "enter".
@Rushhourmc
@Rushhourmc 9 ай бұрын
I think one great advantage with DMD-865 is that it is a normal pad of dike, I don’t need to bring other tablet or PC. I make routes with Stegra.io and open them in DMD2. Or updating Facebook, look at a movie etc.
@Brad-RB
@Brad-RB 9 ай бұрын
@@Rushhourmc, The Garmin Tread Overland is an Android tablet with a browser and a satellite communicator. It will run DMD2, other apps, or any web-based apps. Custom routes in Garmin are finally easy to create. The Garmin map has offroad trails and gravel roads designated in different colors, making them easy to find (North America). It has everything I need in one device. It is NOTHING like a NAV VI. The downside is the price. If I didn't have Cabela's points to pay for 90% of it, I would have bought the DMD-865.
