Greg helped me improve my skillset when he lived here in Atlanta in 1996. He was a great mentor and a good friend. He opened his home to me when I had lost my home and let me stay with him until I was able to get my own place again. He told me that I have to rely on my ability and not drum machines and sequencers. On Saturday evenings he would have me emulate the great Afro- Cuban musicians like Hilton Riuz, & Africando. And it made my truly appreciate that music. I regret never flying out to L.A to visit him before he transitioned to the other side. He was always on me about learning my chords and scales. The last time I spoke with him. I sent him one of my tracks and he said. "You still don't know your sh*t" Rest In Rhythm

Fundi, haven't been out in a minute. Certainly miss the folks and vibe at 39th. Thank you for documenting this. I did a lot of soul searching during my regular sessions in that circle.

You see how they picked up the tempo with no problems. they have some good dundun player holding it together. That's why I say , liemert park is the best drum circle.

Miss Naji's leadership. More traditional, structured rhythms led by a Master drummer. The circle needs this, but if people do not support Master drummers, they will not come.

Brother Fundi, this captures the heart and soul of the many people who have participated in the 39th street king park drumming. I am blessed to have shared in the drumming and the listening of live rhythm taught to me by many who are in this visual montage. GREAT JOB! Good to see everyone... Thank you!
