I’ve seen some amazing models of boats made by people who own the real thing. A guy built a replica of his 26’ TollyCraft complete with air horns , Radar , Anchor, etc. He showed at Fisherman’s Festival in Ballard and immediately had an inquiry as to how to build one of them like a 28’……?? He said $6k and next thing he knew…… I found him a miniature salesman sample of a common “Bruce” plow in bronze and he just about cried when he spied it . He lost the radio contact at one event and had to roam docks until he heard his horn beeping. Loved the huge battleship. Good stuff.

Nice idea, model sailing ships in a skirmish but I wonder if the creator of this video actually knows what a galleon is. One of the ‘French’ ships vaguely resembled one but all the others, the ‘French’ frigate and the ‘British’ despatch schooner (ketch-rigged) Brig-sloop and 64-gun ship-of-the-line were none of them galleons but from an era at least century later. I’m awaiting the video in which all naval guns are referred to as cannons.

The last one "Majesty of the Seas" is a canal boat built by a man in France, from an article online: "A gentleman in France named Francois Zanella, after getting sick of building the average size cruise ship models, decided to take things one step further and spent 11 years building a huge replica of Majesty of the Seas. It is 1/8th scale, 33.5 metres long, 4.75 metres wide and an impressive 100 tonnes. Francois started building the replica in his garden in Moselle, France, which is ironic as Majesty of the Seas was too built in France by Chantiers de l’Atlantique. If that wasn’t impressive enough you might also be surprised to know that the model is actually a fully functional canal boat and with a draft of 1.06 metres she is the perfect size to gain admittance to most European canals. Now some of you have may have already seen and heard of this as construction was actually completed in 2005 (he started building it in 1993) so we are going back quite a few years but for those of us who have just discovered it - amazing, right?! Once construction was complete the boat was carefully transported to Sarreguemines, in north-eastern France, where she was launched and christened. She is currently sailing her way through Europe with her creator living onboard full time."

I have a 1/16 scale FAC for RC. (German 1970's type). INTERIOR as well as EXTERIOR. My problem is the running gear. At 9'6" and 200lbs, no model shafts and props are big enough. I used 2 ct down yamaha 3hp outboard props but still have not the ability to make a leak proof 30" prop shafts. Any suggestions?

Random video for me. I've always appreciated all sorts of models especially having been a reasonably competent plastic model builder. With movie making, large models are rarely a surprise, and are expected more often than not. But large models are quite surprising when it comes to individual model builders. As the video shows, one requirement is some place to keep them during, and after fabrication. It's also hard to imagine the time, and resources invested by one person. I recently saw a video about a miniaturist, and fine model builder. One of his models is of a four wheeled horse drawn wagon about 18 in long. If I remember correctly, he estimated it took over 2000 hours to complete. So large or small, that's a lot to invest either way. So hats off to those who can do it.

The majestic is a fine model but the basic roof lets it down. It needs the upper pool deck and funnels.

The maker of this video has no clue what a galleon is, or how a ship of the line looks like, or from what time periods they are.

@justanotherguy4692 ай бұрын
On the ones where the length of the model was given, look up with Google, the length of the original, and divide by the length of the model. The Titanic is 1/10, and the Majesty at Sea is 1/8.
