Some comments from an ex crash scene investigator...."We arrived in Jackson the night she was killed, (for our semi-annual vacation to see 399). Went to the approximate scene, (they only said "about the 126 mile marker") which is in Lincoln County. The location of the carcass was in Teton County. Now they say it occurred at the 126.9 mile marker, still in Lincoln County. We checked from the 125 to the 127 mile marker and no sign of blood, pre or post crash skids, car parts, nothing to indicate the area of the crash. The blood and drag marks were still on the road 12 miles north though, in Teton County, where the elk carcass was hit. Interesting don't you think? (I'm a retired Crash Investigator so I had to see for myself). They cleaned up the site of 399's death but not where the elk carcass was located (I have video of the blood stained road where the elk carcass was). I was checking the scene as we just couldn't believe she was in the road. it seemed more likely the driver may have been crossing onto the shoulder some and that's how 399 was killed. We may never know how it really happened. We walked the roadway at the publicized location, (126.9 mile marker), and yes, the roadway and the shoulder were cleaned up VERY well. There were no pre-impact skids, blood marks, scuffs, hair, or drag marks, and no post-impact skids or blood stains. I went out to the scene the next morning, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday looking for anything to suggest a crash had occurred - NOTHING. I get it, the Lincoln County Sheriff is trying to keep everyone calm, I guess. But the interview they gave said the Deputies determined, by the damage to the vehicle and size of the bear, the driver was doing the speed limit of 55 MPH. I guess this is new "magic" they have now in determining minimum speeds in crashes. Also, remember, this crash was investigated by the Sheriff's Office, NOT the Highway Patrol, as their Trooper was busy on a rollover DUI crash. I wish they were a little more transparent with their (lack of) investigation. I don't believe 399 would have been in the road or jumped out in front of the vehicle. This is also not a blind spot on the road. We'll never know I guess."

399 was a majestic bear and a great mother to multiple cub litters. Her descendants will be part of the Teton valley for decades. Hopefully 399 will receive a proper burial in the land she ruled. She should not be taxidermied into some sideshow display just to bring in a few more $$$ to the region. IMHO anyway.

Did you have rivets that you went over with the umhw? How is it holding up going on 3 years of use? I have a tracker pro team 18 jet that I'm thinking about doing this to. My biggest concern is going over the rivets and that causing an issue.

It was welded. No issues at all three years later. Last year I hit hard many times as the rivers were really low.

I camp on the Wisconsin River islands south of Castle Rock damn. It's extremely sandy and sandbars change a lot. My buddies and I currently operate a fleet of 4 outboard jons. Sure, we can read the river and find ways around. Except I'd much rather skate across. I'm in love with your Megalodon and eventually would like to build my own. In the mean time, I have a few questions about the Green machine. •How hard is the sand on the prop over time? •Is connecting the Jetski frame to the Jon noat done by fasteners and sealant and/or was any welding needed? •Lastly, how do you get something like that registered? Either way, have yourself a good one and upload some more videos of Megalodon ripping it up. It's convincing my wife to allow one.
@muskie921cp32 жыл бұрын
Yes I bolted it in with 3m5200. I just get the registration changed to inbord jet no problems. I have it insured without any troubles also. Sand will eat up the plastic liners but stainless hasn't been a problem.

Sad to hear the Eagle passed. But when they pass the rescuing organization donates the carcass to the National feather repository in Colorado who then issues the feathers out to Native Americans who use them in their religious ceremonies.

Hey brotha….musky fisherman from PA here. Thinking about hauling my jet on the 17 hr trip out to Wisconsin this September. Came out to Phillips area last year for my first trip out ever. Stayed on phillips chain and fished out of a buddies boat. I’ve been looking at fishing the Flambeau all the way north where it comes out of the flowage. Any advice you could give me on running that area at all?
@muskie921cp33 жыл бұрын
I run it the river is full of rocks. The rapids are pretty easy to go through. I'm assuming you have plastic protection on the bottom you're going to need it. This year there has been almost no rain up there so I've been staying off the river my boat can take it but why best it up if I don't have too. Hopefully we get some rain and get the rivers flowing good again.
@nunya68743 жыл бұрын
@@muskie921cp3 thank you very much for the reply brotha!! Unfortunately I do NOT have UMHW on the bottom. I run a 1768 triton center console with a 75 hp 2 stroke. Boat has a custom tunnel but that’s about it. Fished quite a bit out of river raptors and other inboard like yours. You guys can def run a bit shallower for sure. Not knowing the area at all is always a pain. Am I correct in assuming that the further south towards park falls that you go, the deeper it should be?
@muskie921cp33 жыл бұрын
@@nunya6874 yes without protection I'm not sure I would go through first rapids unless we get more rain. There is plenty to fish between there and town that is great fishing. The problem is it is all good and the fish can be found in all of it and anywhere.
@nunya68743 жыл бұрын
@@muskie921cp3 right on man. I really appreciate the advise from someone who actually runs it. I may jst look into fishing between each set of rapids I can get to. How thick is the aluminum on your boat? I’ve read where guys say if you don’t have a certain thickness then you can’t use UHMW. That doesn’t seem to be the case though
@muskie921cp33 жыл бұрын
Mine is .100 thick I don't see why it wouldn't work on any thickness as long as it is bolted. If it is just screwed into the aluminum than it has to be thicker or they will just pull out.
