Very brave Kelly, but the final of Champions of Europe(who became Champions League later) is more important in football.

Great goals visually, but pointless video. Where’s the significance in terms of tournament football? Owen’s goal is brilliant, but it was a last 16 match and we lost. Charlton’s second goal in the semi-final v Portugal is almost as good as the one v Mexico, but far more significant. Where is Geoff Hurst’s final goal in the 66 final? Actually, a brilliant breakaway goal, Bobby Moore plays out of the area and then his pass is sublime, and yes, Hurst is only trying to hit it into the crowd, but what a finish. Would have been nice if England could have got even as close to such a breakaway at any time in Euro 2024. Has to be in the top 10, which on its own makes it a rubbish list. John Barnes v Brazil? Friendly, when did he ever turn it on when it mattered? (and I’m a Liverpool fan)? Rooney’s volley? In a 2-1 defeat to Russia, for God sake.

Owen's goal was great, but England lost that match in penalties. It says they won 2-1.

I think it is to indicate that it was the third goal in the match that took England into a 2-1 lead, having been one down and then equalised previously.

For me the Beckham goal, which wasn’t World Cup 2001, it was a qualifiers match in 2001 for place in the 2002 World Cup. Is the one that stands out for me. I remember being young and there was so much going against David Beckham. There was the stick for the sending off against Argentina in 98. There was the whole Glen Hoddle blaming him for the exist and so on.. that when he scored it was instant redemption and euphoria.

One of the goals in the 5-1 v Germany should be in the top 10 imo. Either Gerrard's great strike to make it 2-1 just before HT. Or even Heskey's goal; great play between Beckham and Scholes to open up the German midfield before Heskey's super composed finish.

The circumstances of some of these goals needs taking into consideration. Scoring a world class goal in a tournament far exceeds a friendly, and Charlton's, Owen's and Gasgoine's mongst the best

Joe Coles goal was struck beautifully but for me its the least impressive one here. He was under no pressure and had all day to tee it up. I'd expect most top players to at least work the keeper from that situation but he did connect perfectly. David Platts is up there with Van Bastens volley for technical difficulty for me.
