This movie was the original New Jack City AND the original Carlitos Way. They could have just called it "Franks Way"

It's funny that tarantino thinks a white stuntman can beat bruce lee. I don't know what wet dream he woke up from but interesting. It's funny to me a Tarantino used a white woman and a white man to play characters in a japanese themed samurai movie. Maybe Tarantino is a racist and doesn't think asians can play themselves.
@mavericklane6206Күн бұрын
Tarantino had a brain fart. Bruce Lee could mop the floor with opponent. This is Hollywood warped privelege.

Someone got upset at me for calling Brad Pitt's character a "mary sue" by the standard that such a term is applied to female protagonists. To anyone who also gets upset at that notion, watch the whole movie and mentally replace Brad Pitt with Brie Larson and then tell me I'm wrong.

They're both pathetic. All he had to do was be his own man, he didn't owe her an explanation, and if he was gonna, he should've meant it, instead of babbling like a drunken Meadow. And Meadow, she always had the makings of a varsity btch. EVERYTHING good and bad is about her, and it's everyone else's fault when she does bad things. She wants to signal what virtue she wrongfully believes she has, to people who don't care about her opinions.

The movie was good 👍. This is definitely just a joke, and Tarantino is just trying to make his character a bad ass. It's fictional and not real. Theres never been a cliff booth.

Lee was such a brilliant actor he still has millions of people believing he was a real fighter. It’s great he inspired so many, but he was there to make money, and make movies, period. But millions of people also thought Liver King’s bullshit was genuine too.

It's weird and sad to read that there are people who seriously believe that Lee behaved like that. Lee actually said that he had no chance against Ali and that he admired him.

This is the best scene in the movie because of how true it stays to the movie. Bruce Lee wasn't known to act like this altough fictional take or not from Tarantino I love how he captured the behind beeeehind the scenes in this movie. Capturing the people behind the layers of Hollywood.

while some claims about Bruce Lee have been exaggerated over time, dismissing him as "nothing in real life" ignores substantial evidence of his skills, innovations, and influence on martial arts. His contributions went beyond acting, and his abilities were recognized by many credible martial artists of his time.
@HedleyPugh6 күн бұрын
Lack of footage against professional fighters: While true, this doesn't disprove his skills: - Few martial artists were filmed in real fights during that era - Accounts from professional fighters who trained with Lee support his abilities - His influence on fighters like Chuck Norris and Joe Lewis is well-documented
@HedleyPugh6 күн бұрын
Some criticize Lee for promoting unrealistic techniques. However: - Lee actually argued against mystical concepts in martial arts - He emphasized practical, efficient movements - His philosophy influenced the development of modern MMA
@HedleyPugh6 күн бұрын
While Lee was not large (5'7", 125-145 lbs), his abilities were notable: - Exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, demonstrated through documented feats - Focused on speed and technique rather than raw power - Influenced modern understanding of biomechanics in fighting
@HedleyPugh6 күн бұрын
his martial arts credentials were substantial: - He began training in Wing Chun under Yip Man in Hong Kong - Developed his own martial art philosophy and style (Jeet Kune Do) - Taught martial arts to students, including celebrities and fighters - Authored books on martial arts techniques and philosophy
@HedleyPugh6 күн бұрын
Lee's abilities were demonstrated through: - Eyewitness accounts from respected martial artists and fighters - Documented challenge matches, like the Wong Jack Man fight - Verifiable physical feats and speed measurements

I get it's a movie, but portraying Bruce Lee as an arrogant bully who gets manhandled by a stuntman is just wrong on so many levels. Tarantino really dropped the ball here. Bruce Lee was respected by champion fighters and martial artists worldwide. This portrayal makes no sense historically.

The novel makes clear that Cliff is a killer. Like, big-time. He's a WWII vet from the Pacific theatre who enjoys killing and did a lot of it. And while it's not entirely confirmed, the idea that Cliff killed his wife is presented in the novel as "Yeahhhhh, he did it and his friends covered for him." In the book, Bruce gets his ass handed to him because he doesn't realize until things get physical that the "pretty boy stuntman" is actually an experienced killer... and then Bruce realizes that he done fucked up.

When you watch Brad Pitt in this movie it's insane how much he is Arthur Morgan. His cadence, his expressions, his speech pattern and his look. Especially in this scene when he's just listening then looks up that's Arthur Morgan
