Nice subtle 'ad' for Kay gallery but beautiful shots of Santa Fe. Too bad this year's color is somewhat subdued. Still there are some incredible images. Especially like the close-up of aspen leaves.

...Kay Contemporary seems to be a lovely place, frequented by good people... The presented show is not displaying "contemporary" but rather traditional work, which is great (the show's attendees didn't look to me "contemporary" either; they look like, as I said, normal, nice people)... The music illustration is charming, as well. ...Now, about the shows: in my opinion, they should have been named more to the point; the landscapes could go by "My recurrent dream of being Paul Cezanne"... the other one, maybe, "Orygammy"... ...Overall, a pleasant experience...

Thanks! I like setting up right next to the ocean so I can almost feel it...which means sometimes I actually feel it, when a surge comes in. The wind was even harder to contend with, had to hold the easel with one hand almost the whole time I painted or it would flip over!

I now have a seriously bad case of studio envy. I've always wondered about using those oil paint sticks. Some pretty impressive results. But I have no doubt that's from years of hard work and experimentation. I shouldn't have watched this - I really can't afford them. But It looks like I'm going to have to try a set of oil paint sticks.

@@marcopolo9146 Yes, in fact, the question is wrong I in Rick Stevens' painting technique see inspirations from van gogh, gauguin, symbolism and lyrical abstractionism.

Rick me gusta mucho su pintura. La mesa llena ¿De qué? ¿Son pasteles? No conocía esos, tal vez porque no pinto. No son pomos de óleo porque no tienen tapas.
