Hey! I have a little question. In the video you told the classes of Minerva are online in general. Then whats the purpose of moving from country to country within such short periods of time? I totally get it would be fun and interesting to see new places. But it would also be cool to get more out of that educationally. And moving around the world often is not great for the environment.
@savannahcjackson6 ай бұрын
Well it’s relative! Living 4 months in a city is quite a long time compared to how long people typically spend when travelling. Minerva encourage students to engage in local communities and really get to know the cities. That being said, future Minerva classes will visit fewer cities (4-5) and spend a whole year in a place. It’s a new university and there are constantly changes being made, but you make a good point.
@annaariza15756 ай бұрын
@@savannahcjackson Thanks a lot for the reply! I really like the idea of engaging in local communities, so people will really connect with their new environment and get the know the place better. Also great to see they are making improvements!

Well done. As a person from Ottawa too who has chosen to live around the world where you continue to meet new people and adapt to new cultures, geography, people and possible futures that feeling of the exhilaration of learning and a full brain is sustainable for a lifetime. For those who do not get into Minerva or study abroad but who want to experience new cultures, ideas, (food!) and just ways of seeing the world, join (and get to know those in) the international students association at your university. Make friends with people from outside your world. You will not regret it.

Hi! I have a question, in my country the norm is to go to university at at least 22. I want to apply for fall 2025, and I'll be 21 by then. Do you think a 21 year old freshman can thrive socially? Will I find my people even if I'm older?
@savannahcjackson7 ай бұрын
I don’t think your age matters in this case! Learning is for everyone. We even have a few students 30+. I really wouldn’t worry about it too much, especially since 21 isn’t that big of an age gap. There are plenty of transfer students that start Minerva at 19-22 so you’ll blend right in :)

hi there! im an m27 who enrolled at 20 and turned 21 during freshman year. i somewhat feel the age gap because most of my peers are 17-19 but you get over it quickly and you'll find people to connect with. although we're the minority, i have many friends born the same year as me and the oldest person in my cohort is 27. so you have nothing to worry about at all!

Hello! Might I ask if dorms are residence halls are mixed between males and females in minerva? If so, what if you don't want to share a room with the opposite sex? Waiting for your reply!!
@savannahcjackson9 ай бұрын
Summer before first year you fill out a roommate survey-they will match you w someone of the same sex. The years following you can either ask to be paired with a specific person (same or opposite sex) or ask to be matched based on survey responses again (and this will always be same sex pairings). Hope that helps!!

I'm on my first year of uni and I was a bit scared to meet new people again and not getting into the university I initially wanted made me feel even more lost. I believe everything worked out in the end and I couldn't imagine a few months ago how comfortable I would feel in this new environment. I feel much more relaxed and can appreciate that feeling after finishing the IB, which definitely was my most energy draining study years. I'd love to see long vlogs of you exploring and sharing your life, whatever makes you happy 💗
