Hello , very useful videos, Thank you a lot! I made several sets of arrows following your instructions, I came across a couple of questions , hope you can clarify 1) why you don't reinforce wood area around arrow tip tang with sinew? it will make tip area more resistent 2) for what you wrap with sinew nock area above notch? With prolonged use, because the sinew in this area are cut, they begin to peel off.

Do you use a particular brand for the varnish on your sinew wraps or make your own? How long does it take to cure? I experimented with Tried & True boiled linseed oil + pine resin varnish: took about a week until the sinew wrap was no longer sticky. I have a new batch using BLO+beeswax, but I'm not sure if oil+wax offers enough protection for sinew + hide glue. I'm trying avoid using lacquer or oil-based polyurethane, if practical. (your videos have been hugely helpful, thanks for documenting your process)

Appreciate the time, effort and craftsmanship you put into the two video. If you have not already you may wish to watch Stiliyan Stefanov make Ottoman arrows and compare your styles and technique. The same short piece of music becomes annoying.

Hello, First I would like to say that it was a great video! really inspiring. I saw you measured the spine after barreling the shaft. Did you also measured before to see how the spine changed? I have another long question for you and would be very glad If you find a time to answer it. I want to built barrelled ottoman war arrows. my plan was to use a 31inche 11/32 cedar shaft. barrel the front 1/3 to 5/16 and back 2/3 to to 5/16. I will be shooting with an AF archery Turkish bow that has 40lbs at 31 inches. Which spine should I but the 11/32 shaft? 45-50lbs spine? do you know hoe the spine from shafts change after tapering in both ends? Thanks you so much in advance.
@usnchief13392 жыл бұрын
just work to a rough 10 grains per pound of draw weight, for the completed arrow. This will get you close enough. Plus the handle of the AF bows are very narrow...not much for the arrow to go around.
