I own a Shake Sharp razor, and am a bit ashamed to admit that I have not yet used it! The two vintage razors that have become my preferred goto's were both made by Gillette. They are the Aristocrat Jr. which was made in England and sold in Canada as a "Rocket", and The New short comb open comb razor head on a 1950's ball end Tech handle, which is technically a frankenrazor. I have yet to purchase any modern DE razors. I may purchase the Heritage Gibbs Replica razor if funds and availability coincide...

Fun learning about the Shake Sharp (again!). And fun to see The Compendium again. I've a suspicion that I could lose hours reading its pages and more hours scouring the internet for the razors! So glad you did if for us/me!! Karve Overlander stainless steel is my top modern. For vintage, as much as I am attached to my '64 Slim, I'd say it is an injector, the Schick Hydro-magic Type I. The Type G is a close second. Or is it the adjustable Type M? Can I pick all three?! I'll have to come back and see what other say.

Well those are some hard questions! Probably that Schaeffer I just got and then probably the Thorn for a modern razor, which is kind of an ugly duckling. The difficulty picking top razors is blades, SE & DE, OC, Slant, Shavette, etc. PAA makes it difficult too, with their reproductions of old razors like the Monster Slant and the Meta 4, because both of those could have been the top modern razor. If I can come up with a safety razor that uses the Kismet hair shaper blade that would be number one-hahaha! That's my number one blade, super sharp & super smooth. I have my doubts that I'll run into another New Weck and if I had known, I would have picked it up. Just another problem for me to come up with a solution for-lol! Take care Dave!

Nice shave Dave. I recently received a Maggards sample of after the rain by declaration grooming. It smells great, have you tried it ? I do not have much experience with vintage razors, except an old Gillette tech head. It was a tad mild and yet bitey for me. I went on a spree to hunt down every cheap tech inspired by the original one (rimei and likes). My favourite modern razor is Shivira by a company in India - Romer 7. Romer 7 is a large OEM which makes a number of razors rebranded and sold in the EU and NA.

Nice shave Dave I recently picked reserve spice by barrister from a friend. Clubbed with the easily available old spice after shave (manufactured here), it offers such an old school note. Nice shave! Great soap and splash, I do like their base a lot. I think the head design is good and perhaps they should have echoed the design of the handle with the Blackbird. There's a simplicity and elegance to the Blackbird handle that should be carried throughout their line. I did pick up an interesting vintage razor that was made by Scheafer. A two piece, with a bakelite handle and a head very close to a Barbasol. A smooth and efficient shaver and another reminder that I need to pick up the Compendium. It almost makes me wonder if Scheafer manufactured the Barbasol razor. It's a keeper for sure! Have a great week Dave!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I have done a couple of handles for the razor, when someone wants a larger and or more stylish handle.
