can you explore on the single redundancy when using the usb modem.

We recommend using different interfaces for redundancy in case one interface experiences loss of data. E.g., A LAN connection for one stream and a USB modem for another stream, or WiFi if that is available. An optional internal module which accepts a SIM card can also be used with the ViA codec.

This is unlikely to work unfortunately as the ViA is a USB device rather than host, and so is the Focusrite, and therefore they need to be plugged into a host e.g. a PC, MAC or mobile phone.

Sim, o ViA possui Wi-Fi integrado e também se você conectar um roteador celular 5G ou celular USB 5G, o codec suportará esses métodos de conexão.

Like any codec, Report-IT's streaming reliability is only as good as the data network to which it is connected. Report-IT will work well over cellular connections that are not congested. However, when at events with large crowds, data networks may experience congestion from many users sharing bandwidth. Report-IT Enterprise supports SmartStream PLUS dual redundant streaming, so you can stream over a cellular connection, plus separately over WiFi at the same time. These dual connections send separate packet streams and if packets over one connection are lost, they can be replaced from the redundant stream. This would be recommended at large events for better reliability. It is also possible in many regions to get a priority cellular SIM service from a telco, which is less prone to low data rates. There are numerous affordable data plans available these days and you can optimize the connection bitrate to minimize data use in many instances. Plus you can encode only to save on data if you don't need a return path. Contact [email protected] for more details about reducing data usage.

The number one reason that talent over drives the microphone during a remote is that they are in a high noise situation, and want more headphone volume then the codec can provide with a mic set at a reasonable level. Most of them are in a catch 22 because they've been using headphones so long that they are deaf to the point that they have to run the volume all the way up in order to hear themselves when they're in a loud environment ... I fight this all the time, where I keep trying to explain to them that this knob is for your headset and this knob is for your mic gain... until I finally realized that they were using that mic gain as another stage of gain for the headsets without even realizing it. What needs to be done is to have a setting in the unit is to have a secondary gain stage in an accessibility menu where people with hearing loss can get more gain from the headphone amp without needing to crank up the input gain. It's not the optimal solution, but it if it could be done per headphone jack it would be a good solution.

In the latest version of Tieline ViA codec firmware available for free download from www.tieline.com, there is a Headphone setting called "send and return boost", which is adjustable on each of the individual headphone jack outputs. You can even just boost either local (send) or studio (return) IFB audio individually. An additional 12dB of gain is available for "Send" and "Return" audio levels, which should help with the situation you have outlined. If you require further information please contact [email protected]. To adjust this setting from the front Home screen select Audio > Headphones > Headphones Send & Return Boost.

The default Tieline ports used for IP1 in a G3 codec are TCP port 9002 for session data and UDP port 9000 for audio streaming. For IP2, the default ports are TCP port 9012 for session data, and UDP port 9010 for audio streaming. Alternatively, you can reconfigure these ports as required to suit your network, or if you have multiple codecs and need to use additional ports. Open these ports in your firewall to connect successfully. There is some more information on port forwarding your router at www.portforward.com and you can use a port scanner such as the one available at www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php to verify that the router/firewall ports have been opened successfully.

Can we use two different data paths at the same time, like wired LAN and Cell? I don't want two cells or two LANS, we need one of each for dual support. That's what we currently do now with two codecs (ZIP's).

Yes you can stream using a LAN connection and separately stream using a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. You can choose which connection interface is your primary and backup connection as well. The codec supports dual redundant streaming, whereby the primary connection will automatically fail over to the backup connection if network connectivity is lost. Alternatively, you can also configure dual mono connections and stream two separate mono bidirectional connections from the ViA codec using a LAN interface for one, and a cellular or Wi-Fi connection for the other. My Commander G3 Field keeps telling me to Insert SIM, but there's already a SIM in there. What could be causing this?

It may be worth checking if you have a pin configured on your SIM card. The codec can't unlock a SIM pin code, so you may need to put the SIM into a cell phone and turn off the pin-lock feature. Then reinsert the SIM card into the module and codec. Remember to power the codec down prior to removing or inserting any module.
