Great video of the areas bikeways. Question? Why does Brisbane have such wide bikeways and Logan so many narrow?
@jelbuilderfilms6 сағат бұрын
Thanks David.... Good question. I reckon it's due to the fact that Brisbane is simply a much larger council with a much larger budget, that they have built simply better and more dedicated bikeways. Whereas poor Logan City are not really "bikeways" per se in my opinion, but more accurately "walkways".... and Council has simply bannered them as 'cycle routes' to throw a pathetic bone to the cycling community here which really is embarrassing to be honest. As I'm riding all these cycling routes around the place, I can really see where the money is, and where the money is not being invested.

This is a great track to walk or run or ride, I normally go to the start on Collie St next to the small playground, so much to see on this walk, and there's a Mountain biking track directly across from that shelter where the pump track is that's fun to ride. Also awesum seeing Kangaroos and Wallabies most times in people's yards or in the bush. One of my favorite areas. 🤙

Hey Mate, Maybe the shiny arsed pen pushers in charge of these bikeways need to get off their shiny bums and ride these from time to time. I can't help but feel there is a shakedown of some sort of grants for bikeways here to put lines on maps.. Great Vid..

Just a spectacular place. Was at echo point campground a year ago same day that hiker fell & he was lost for a couple of days. Chopper was flying around even into the night. Not sure if you know but the black canyon area is now completely closed off. You can only access with a permit. Apparently there are near-threatened plant species there. Such a pity as I was looking forward to going there but navigating in via a different route. I'll just have to go on one of the guided walks to the canyon that O'Reillys does. I do understand though that some areas are best kept isolated as much as possible from human activity. You only have to look at all that pink pvc tape these inexperienced people keep tying to trees - this rubbish will end up being eventually washed down into creeks. Anyway, glad to see you got in to the canyon before it was closed off. I must watch your video on it.
@jelbuilderfilms4 күн бұрын
Yeah, that was Rory Lane... Poor bloke almost died on that hike on the West Canungra Creek circuit. Black Canyon is a fantastic but extremely difficult journey with no official trail there. Not one to take on lightly no matter which approach is taken.

Ha ha, loved this one. Good mix of scenery and gasbagging. One of my favs is one of those rice bags with a can of coles/woolies brand chunky chilly tuna mixed through it and you will even save another dollar! 🙂. Captain Cookie named it Mount warning in 1770 after nearly hitting the reef off Fingal head. Was in cloud last time I did this one, but have been planning an overnighter for the last year so this is good inspiration to do it And I even got the missus to watch and she reckons she will come!! Wait till she hears those Yowies outside tent at night eh. KZbin needs a quality hike through, Oreilly's to Xmas creek. When are you going to do it!?
@jelbuilderfilms4 күн бұрын
Thanks Paul... Yeah, these rice bags are so much better value than those dehydrated bags for $14! Glad your missus wants to go... Until she hears the Yowies😂 Yes, I'm planning on a through hike retracing O'Reilly's route from here down to Stinsons Wreck and down to Xmas Creek soon. Just trying to figure out the car shuffle... or considering hitch hiking🫨 That should be a good adventure to show

Are people allowed to cross the private property on the north? Last time I went to Mount Lindesay, I wanted to cross the farmlands I’m the northern side like you are in the video, but I was told by someone there that the area is private property and not to be crossed. They told me to go from the National Park (western) approach/side. I did reach the SE corner of the cliffs, but the track through vegetation was much more difficult and time consuming than the grassy route you are taking. Do I need to do anything or get permission to cross the grassy area to the north like you did in the video? I would like to climb Mount Lindesay again from the route you are taking.
@jelbuilderfilms5 күн бұрын
No, nobody is allowed to cross this private property. You must go to the farmer that owns the property, and request permission. Simple as that.

I just did this on my recumbent trike 4 weeks ago although it was a Wednesday so I got the Vietnam version! I got lost and went left through hope island and Surfer’s along the coast. I agree approx a third is really scary BUT I CAN’T WAIT TO DO IT ALL AGAIN! Awesome Mate, I'm heading up there in a week or so to do some geology. It's an interesting formation. I think the "Metamorphic track is a bit of a tell. One thing I noticed, Mango trees ? I don't think anyone has ever lived up there, and only we are big enough to transport a mango seed. Interesting. And how cool would that house just on the other side of that gate, what a place to live.
@jelbuilderfilms6 күн бұрын
Yeah, the mango tree were interesting. Also, that house is on a closed off road at the back end of Mount View Rd. Not sure if you know this but Mount View Road is a rumoured 'spook hill'.... there's a section there where it goes uphill, you put your car in neutral, and it will roll up the hill. I road this almost every day going from waterford west to springwood. Never had a problem with anyone on foot, had a bizaillion problems with cars. Too dangerous to keep doing it. Amazingly enough the dangerous incidentas were all government works: Got sqeezed by a clarks bus on railway drive. Got sandwitched between a parked car and LCC ute carrying a trailer. I kicked out at a car who cut a corner into the bikelane almost pedal striking me around trinder park only for it to be a police officer.... When I sent in the video.... no action taken because only a on duty officer can issue a traffic infringement notice. I didn't bother asking if they meant issuing me or the officer, but I got a $30 fine for not having a bell.
