I worked on that line a number of times as a brakeman in the 80s. Our family friend was the engineer on that run from Penticton to Merritt when they abandoned it . Owen Kjelson {KJ} was quite a character and he retired at the end of that trip. My dad rode with him on the 2nd last trip and drove half of it even though he hadnt worked that line since the late 1950s.

I'm getting to the age where I'm doing a lot of reminiscing! I live in London, and during the 70's I went on holiday to SF every other year. I had a lot of relatives there at the time, so was very lucky. One year my cousin took me to see Providence. I only just remembered their name yesterday. I was, and still am, very into my music, most genres. I had never heard of this band in the 70's, so it was a lovely surprise, and I remember enjoying the evening a lot. Of course, while I was there, I bought the album, and played it constantly on my return to the UK. When I left home, I left all my albums behind, and my father ended up storing them in the garage, including many Beatles albums! He asked me many times to come and collect them, as they were going to rent the garage out. I never did. He eventually gave all my albums away. I often wondered who received them. Whoever they were, they got some gems! Thank you so much for 'posting.'

just found out about this band a few months ago and was blown away how amazing this LP is and I think if they would have come out 3 years sooner ( the 60s) before the progressive sounds of the early 70s graced us they would have been a lot bigger , this songs are some of the best songs ive heard in many many years , been trying to learn more about the band and how the lead singer / writer, key boards passed away so young ( I believe 2009) one of a kind band for sure.

I sure wish that who published this would have contacted me. I still have this video available on DVD and a far superior version, 2 hours long. I also just pulled all my videos off KZbin until I get this sorted out.

Hey, sorry to ask but do you know if you might still have that DVD kicking around? I'd be thoroughly interested

Wonderful historic footage! Thank you very much for sharing it with us. Tbere doesn't appear to he much video footage from the end or KVR operations, at least here on youtube. I was quite surprised how quick the train was crusinh along, especially considering the track looked to be in very rough shape at the time.

Nice album, never heard of them. very of it's time and lacks the edginess of some contemporary UK prog folk acts like Spirogyra and Trees, but a lovely listen nonetheless. Unusual to use the autoharp and zither so prominently. Thanks for the upload.

Nice...thank you...the best era of music ever...its from the soul not the ego or cash register...oh...youngins a cash register is how we used to do business transactions...and yes..i walked ten miles in the snow to school..!

I like your statement and the bit of truth behind it, but at the same time it’s always about the ego and the cash register this side of eternity. 😊

Sort of acoustic prog-folk...hard to categorize but they were talented. Saw them in San Francisco back in the day, pretty impressive musicianship and song writing. Sorry they never built on the first album.

Running the train through those mountains reminds me of Switzerland, similar terrain. Imagine if we had a passenger rail service from Vancouver to the OK similar to that on this line-interesting
@randallgvideos8 ай бұрын
The KVR used to run passenger trains as well as freight.
@alexlovelock46488 ай бұрын
@@randallgvideos Yes, and should have continued passenger service like Switzerland does. They're population is similar to BC as well as terrain. Even without freight revenue, maybe the gov't should have taken over the line for a service similar to the Swiss system
