I would really appreciate it if there is some way you could send me the "mod" schematic that iiipops uses! Also do you know of any techs in the Phoenix area that would do this mod for me???

So heres my story in a nut shell , I have a gibson les paul floyd rose , with bridge gibson 498T sounded muffled lack top end , ibe been researching duncans , dimarzio , burstbuckers , then i remembered i have a gibson Bill lawrence HB-L somewhere i found it pulled the 498T and the HB-L is killer wow its about 11.5 k love the clarity over the 498T which seems to be gibsons version of the Duncan JB . too hot for me and lacks top end . loving my tone

Bill's pick ups are still available through Bill Lawrence Wilde Pick Ups from Becky and Shannon (his wife and daughter). I have many different models and they all rock hard and have spoiled me for just about anything else. The 500 series are great in Gibsons. Stay away from Bill Lawrence USA they're made by the imposter.

I don't know if this account is still active but I just want to thank you for giving me and my childhood the sickest audible endeavor that I have been coming back to ever since you posted this back in 2007, just a little bit before the first live action movie that I eventually got to go see in an early screening. Wish everyone who's reading this the best and 'Til all are one <3

Five years later and I have yet to hear a demo as good as this for a Junior. Those "Extra" little mods make it very versatile, just by turning either pot it sounded like you were selecting pickups. BTW, what is a "Vintage " taper volume pot?

My double neck has two sets of these - I like them - don't hear any negative sound quality from them.

Have a set of these in an 89 studio, LOVE! They are amazing! Looking to buy one HBL online. Includes cover (not soldered) doesn’t include springs/ screws and wiring. Trying to track down the correct parts. Any help is appreciated thank you!

They also came with black covers on the Melody Maker Flyer Pro II in 1989. Very shortlived model though.

Seems out of the people commenting here. I appreciate how great this song is the most. I have no complaints to offer.

LOVED the sound of these in my 89 dot inlay studio. But they are INCREDIBLY NOISY and microphonic at loud volumes.

What I like from that era is the TP-6 tailpiece. Fine tuners are great..even on non-trem guitars. But you can make them even better if you put a Kahler string lock behind the nut. It is a minimally invasive solution to tuning issues that plague 6-on-a-side guitars. I have a String Butler on one of my LPs and it works...but I am going to ty to find a TP-6 for it very soon. Cool video!

I had that same guitar back in 1984. I played a lot of shows with it. Played it mostly with an MXR overdrive pedal. The signal was so over-processed; really difficult to get the tone that I wanted at the time. It wasn't the right guitar for what I needed unfortunately. beautifully made guitar and loved the microtuners on the tailpiece.

Gotta agree...I like them so much that I bought two '89 Les Paul's that have their original Lawrence pickups - and I am very pleased with their sound so much that I am recording an album with them. The earlier Tim Shaws are great pickups too, but I actually like the sound of these better. They seem to have more definition playing clean. It's crazy that people were pulling these like teeth back then, just because of the way they looked. But I'll put my '89 LPs with these pickups over any of the new reissue Historic ones for vintage tone

If you send a clock that changes tempo every couple bars, you can turn on feedback and it will swell before resetting to new clock. Clock is super versatile - you can send it mic audio and it will attempt to keep up, creating interesting interplay.

I have them also in my 89 LP Custom....I assume it''s magnet type and strength...as well as wire diameter and # of windings. I don't see how that ground has not been covered by other pup mfgs. Nonetheless...these have a unique sound....as far as I know.
