Fantasitc video. I can't imagine how fierce the scene was when thousands of affordable performance cars were flooding into Ireland when young enthusiasts had money to buy them. Any scene, whether it's cars, scooters, motorcycles or music eventually dies out. If you find yourself involved at the peak, enjoy it as much as you can, make the effoet and go to every meet and event. For me it was motorcycles in London at the back end of the 00's. There were rideouts on Friday night, Saturday day and Sunday day. You could spent the whole weekend on your bike with club and upwards of 30 people turned up for most rides. It was phenomenal. Of course it didn't last but we had 3 good years before the main players moved on to other things. But at the time it was my lifestyle. I was living for bikes and the weekend. I was living fast. Well at least I thought I was. And I felt alive.

It’s a good thing that jdm cars are so expensive now so idiots don’t just damage and scrap them. Bloody waste by a bunch of idiots breaking so many cars for spare parts

First two cars on the list owned by lads I know with lots of video from my local area.. mind blown But seeing how many of these cars came through WKD where I went to random races around the fields never knowing the history of these cars is just plain ignorance. Thank you Neil for bringing me up to speed !

Damn man, I can't even begin to imagine how much time and effort you had to put into researching this video. That HKS Evo CT200R is just something else, hard to believe the only one is still in Ireland. I still have a poster on my wall of the HKS track car that Taniguchi set the Tsukuba record time in, a little bit faded, but still there alongside a poster of the unreal Signal Auto R34 in all its MNP glory. And what you said is so right, back in the early/mid 2000's these cars, legendary and all as they were, were just driven and used, I doubt any of them were given all that much extra attention or stored away as an investment.....talk about different times and attitudes.

Neil, your passion and knowledgeable of these vehicles is truly remarkable. Well done. Some very interesting stories. I wonder what cars arrived in Canada at that time… any idea?

Great video pretty sure at one point or another i have seen most of these cars, always wanted a 1jz swaped s13 with bn sports kit but prices quickly started out reaching me so i sold my projects and found a ps13 silvia (two tone Q's auto chassis with a full K's manual redtop swap) from powervehicles. I bought it to drift at my local track but prices for these machines are insane and i have not got the income to replace something like this so have just been chilling in my garage the last few years, it's from the 90's era of modding and suspect there is more to it's history in Japan but i know nothing.

Very enjoyable video. I am based in Australia and own a Honda Z360 like the one toward the end of your video . I am in the process of putting a K6A engine in from the HA21S alto works rsz. What I really need some help with is finding out what front suspension they are using with the adjustable camber strut caps. My wife is Japanese and still has family in Japan so that would help in purchasing. If there is someway you could find out from the young man that is in the video or provide me with an email address so I could ask him? Please let me know if there is another way we can communicate as to not have to do it via youtube. Would really appreciate your help. Keep up the great work!

It's crazy how much nostalgia I have for an era that I was just a little too young to appreciate in a country I've never been to. I didn't know I was a huge JDM fan until about a year ago and learning about Ireland's history is an awesome video essay for me

Fair play to you Neil. If only a few of the American KZbinrs could take note of your videos and get an education cause watching them all you hear is that’s “Sick” “Dope” etc They are soo late to the party and only for the strong Dollar they would still be in the dark. Keep up the good work and don’t forget to invite your followers to the next big Juicebox BBQ or even better a show down in the lovely South East

Amazing to see the story behind these cars & where they went. I’m 19 and still have a vague memory seeing some of these cars growing up in ireland. I always got excited taking trips out to rural areas like Waterford, as I would always see so many cool cars out there. Dublin, and all the other counties in ireland had many great cars too but back then it was so hard to find anything really documenting the scene. especially cars such as the bn sports demo cars, and d1gp cars. So good to see the car scene being revived again, especially paying homage to the golden era!

I worked with an importer here in the north in the 00s specialising in starlets, and eunos, we once accidentally imported and sold what turned out to be the TRIAL demo starlet that featured in hyper rev. One time we'd 3 eunos RS Ltds sat in a row alongside a toda built stroked eunos, the greddy auto salon eunos, and a built rs aizawa eunos at the same time. Ive still pics of everything that came in, as id take pics of them after id detailled them. Unreal times. Late nights spent watching the first ep85 turbo in Ireland being assembled. Gives me goosebumps

@juiceboxforyou 5secs in the xrp bn supra, Marini owned it, then it went on to become the sats motorsports drift supra..Chris aurthur up north being the owner. I built this before cosworth took over sponsorship.... the white bn supra was originally silver, power vehicles sent it to Ireland, it was sold by its owner to Shane dempsey who painted it white as in picture, it's now grey and still with Shane. Ps just watched video... You got all that lol

nice work. I was actually wondering where the Evo 9 disappeared to; there were questions on Reddit recently and I found the WKD advert on internet archive. Class car. I'd love to know how any of the early importers managed to secure the cars from Japan in the first place, how they made the connections etc !

Aww man, as someone who spent a lot of his teenage years lurking around on the Driftworks forum I remember seeing most of the cars in this video. I used to live here in the UK not far from the notorious Keighley Car Trade Centre (now known as motorhub) and used to go often just to see the random crazy stuff they imported despite them seeming not having a clue what any of it was. Mega drift cars, drag cars, VIP builds. A Cusco built time attack Evo. A mad VG30 powered wide arch S13 that'd been used at Yatabe. Its crazy how much stuff got brought in through there over the last 20 years or so and just seemed to vanish afterwards.
