That's a hard one... I guess just try to do some light appropriate exercises (the Hypermobility Without Tears book is really good for this! and its only £10 on amazon). Also it might be worth asking you gp for some general advice on staying active by pacing yourself. Hope you get some answers soon! Warm hugs x

I’ve been using a camelback backpack for hydration. Helpful for not having to carry a drink when your thumbs are dislocating.

I used to have one but my shoulders dislocate pretty frequently. I tend to drink out of cups/mugs with handles when I can nowadays to avoid dropping things.

LifeWithLeigh ah, gotcha. That makes sense!
@SnowySpiritRuby4 жыл бұрын
I use mine when I go logging or riding (I only wear it on horses that won't spook from the noise, though) - I put hydration mixes in it (straight water does nothing for me), so it keeps me hydrated and cooled off. Mine has a waist belt and sternum strap in addition to the shoulder straps, so it's pretty secure and takes the load off my shoulders, but it also has another pocket that I use to securely hold my emergency meds.

kat kaplan this footage is 2 years old. I had to do this programme twice. These were new meds so they did have some kind of effect on me. I’m still on them just in a different combination now and they don’t do a thing.. it’s all part of the process I guess
@katkaplan35 жыл бұрын
LifeWithLeigh ah, but u just posted it yes? It came up on my notifications... yes, indeed that’s the way of the meds. If been on the one opiate 20 some years, the other 10 years. And here in the us they’ve cut back and put such restrictions on opiates it’s insane. They don’t understand us chronic pain people truly need them.

Hi! I have a referral for a diagnosis of hEDS coming up in November, which is something I'm looking forward to as I had to explain to my original doctor what EDS actually is. I'm a figure skater who had a severe ankle dislocation/sprain last December, where I may need surgery to assist a torn tendon. The original doctor also told me that as my hand palm skin is not "stretchy enough", that I'm just "flexible" 😂 Thank you for the video gal! X
@LifeWithLeighh5 жыл бұрын
I have been told since i was diagnosed that my skin wasn't stretchy enough (by doctors with little to no knowledge of EDS). I recently saw a PT who did her masters in hypermobility and is a 9/9 on the beighton scale herself and she said I'm more than stretchy enough. I think it's all about finding a doctor with knowledge or at least enough knowledge on it. Wishing you all the best x

To be honest, this type of video really scares me. After a little less than 6 months of suspecting something like h-eds or jhs or something in the hypermoblility spectrum and like 4-5 appointments with nothing but a recommendation for yoga and swimming, (let's get the hypermobal girl to do stretching...) I changed GP and in the first appointment left with a referral to a rheumatologist specialising in connective tissue. He even mentioned ehlers-dahlos. I really don't want to go the the rheumatologist only to be told it's nothing, in Ireland we don't have a specialist and I'm heading in to a huge exam year with no diagnosis and therefore no support. They're so careful to make sure you don't get an advantage that it so hard to get exam supports like if my wrist comes out while writing an essay.
@LifeWithLeighh5 жыл бұрын
I've been through a similar thing. IT's been over 2 years since I was diagnosed and I'm only just being referred to rheumatology. Also my college wouldn't believe I needed concessions in my exam until I dislocated my wrist 10mins into a 2h30m exam. I'm not recommending it but I've found people tend to only believe what they see. Regardless, I wish you all the best x

LifeWithLeigh I am concerned about who taught you Welsh as parts of the song are in English. For example you use “me” instead of “fi” and you use “late” instead of “yn hwyr.” I am unaware if this is intentional or not so I am just informing you incase you believe this is the proper Welsh dialect.

@LifeWithLeighh5 жыл бұрын
That’s wasn’t the point I was trying to make. If you have an invisible disability (or visible) then obviously you can use a disabled toilet but I’m fed up of every other parent thinking they have the right to use it and then judging me when I have every right.

@@LifeWithLeighh you're not crazy tho, having an invisible disability is the most fucking frustrating thing in the world and there's really nothing we can do about it aside for hope for a world that accommodates us better and where people are more understanding. my EDS isn't near as bad as yours but having to sit down all the time at work makes me feel like such an asshole when everyone else can apparently just stand all day, it's even worse when my anxiety gets to me and i assume they all think i'm a lazy bastard cause i can't go around all day making sure everyone know i'm DISABLED AS SHIT, THANKS!!! also i think i have the being able to pee any time thing too?? i swear to god EDS is like a magic eight ball of symptoms
