I dont think during performances when fans jump on stage that they should be viewed as a non threat. It's threatening. The unpredictability in behavior told me Maynard did the right thing. ❤

To make the wristlock super effective, add twisting pressure such as with a kotegaeshi or sankyo. By twisting the wrist, you remove all the slack out of the arm which enable him to defend by rotating his wrist and arm. Generally don't just slam down on the wrist but give it a twist to catch it on all those bones

Man, 10 years ago I commented here. From there on I had used this setup in several situations. It is simple and effective. Thank you for breaking it down.

The PTSD-part is so underrated. There are so many that self medicate with BJJ. However since its seldom outspoken, it can also go terrible wrong. The Kodokan as subject for future PTSD research will be interesting to follow. Greatful you highlight this.

Considering how people sue other people for hurting them while they try to break into these peoples' homes, they're very lucky he didn't sue them for hundreds of millions of dollars!
@jershonnielsen41092 ай бұрын
Hundreds of millions? Really? With the lawyers that Tool could afford, I doubt the guy would even win a court case, let alone get anything more than half a million lol

I feel beaten up at work but jiu-jitsu is that time for myself. If I can be grinded down during rolls and laugh about it same at work and in life.

Reminds me of how my bass guitar teacher taught how much pressure you need to properly press the strings. You push like you think you need to... then keep backing off on pressure until you get buzzy sounds (not a clean sound). Then apply a bit more pressure until you have that clean tone. That's how much pressure you need. While you are learning that... you get bad sounding notes. But it doesn't take long to learn the right pressure.

I came out there for one week out of every month for a year to make sure everything would run smooth, and now that everything does, I unfortunately will not be back as often, but I will be back to run some classes, some game days, and possibly do some seminars this year!

Amazingly set! The curriculum is a huge thing like you said most people fall through the cracks because they get mixed in with the 25 yr old training all day no neck types who destroy them and make them feel like JJ isn't for them. I love what you are doing brother OSU

I think it‘s a bit disingenuous not to mention the fact that you used to be a Gracie University CTC, that split from the GU but largely kept the system.. I don’t think there’s a huge problem with doing that and I understand why you would want to have more control over what and how you teach but I do think it should be mentioned.. That being said, I do appreciate all the work you put into spreading Jiu-Jitsu and empowering those who need it the most! So keep up the good work!
@RedlineJiuJitsu6 ай бұрын
There are plenty of videos discussing me being a CTC at one time and even one talking about my split. Although I have structure that is similar, we have a very different program than the CTC program. From the techniques, to the rate of which we cycle through advanced chapters, there is a ton of difference. CTC‘s are anti-sport Jiu-Jitsu, so that is another big difference between us.

I’m a fresh blue belt. I’m a big guy but my mobility blows. Out of desperation I’ve got head and arm triangle while on top and in someone’s closed guard that I wasn’t able to pass and tapped them but it was more out of strength than technique which felt so cheap of me. I know for a head and arm you need to pass. Is there a way to do this while being in someone’s closed guard with technique?

Let’s open up. Before BJJ I was struggling with being mentally stable. Before BJJ I always had that breaking point. When I’m not doing something “extreme” one day I would just “explode” and do some crazy shit, mostly partying hard over days. Engage in promiscuous behavior. Excessive spending. Making up some bullshit drama fights with family and friends. Went to BJJ class, felt all the emotions I was missing, felt adrenaline but most importantly I got humbled for the next 6 months until I could escape. I had to quit smoking drinking and drugs, cause when I appeared on the mats after a hard weekend it was hell. So I cancelled that than I cancelled my toxic relationship, my toxic workplace toxic friends and suddenly I thought I was alone. But no. I made friends there. And slowly with each day my life got better and better. Confidence, Muscles, humbleness, being nice and cool, new work, met my wonderful woman, quit work and about to start my own business. What I learned on my journey. No matter what, I can deal with chaos. I saw guys coming the first months in wanting to smash everyone, after couple months they changed to the better. There is something special about this sport, that connects you with others in an instant. And yes I had injuries from competing and sparring. After a good session, when I drive home, I just feel that peace knowing that everything is gonna be alright. If you are in a tough place right now, get the support you need and come to the training.
