Ugh.. I don't want tight hinges, I just want a locking mechanism. I don't want a skinny arm with little joints, I want a frickin' triangle. Why doesn't anyone make such practical stands? Why does it always have to be fancy BS? Just imagine a regular stand, such as the low angle triangle-shaped ones we typically get with our tablets. Except not only should it have higher adjustable angles, but can also change elevation via placing/sliding the tablet up. Like, it's such an easy solution. How TF has nobody done this?? I can think of so many super basic shape designs that would provide both angle, elevation, AND stability The least they can do is add an optional secondary arm to act as a support pillar underneath to prevent wobble and the inevitable joint 'drift'

I think the best to overcoming anxiety is to just keep moving on. I mean if we want to keep improve, there will be a wall of struggle that could lead to anxiety no matter what. But the important thing to know is to not push ourselves too much when anxiety happened. That’s why sometimes taking short break or doing something like your video suggest is very useful. To calm down our anxiety to not overly extended

I remember I recently posted something after a long hiatus (and this just happened to be so long ago that we didn't have reels dominating the Instagram space), but I essentially got like 2 likes and archived it out of embarrassment after a day or two. All of that to say, I really appreciate your point about how the world doesn't need "perfect" art and that it needs honest heartfelt art that reflects the person who created it. My lifelong goal as an artist is just to tell stories essentially, and your point has helped me readjust my outlook on just what parts of art are actually important (at least to me). Whether I post it or not, this sentiment about social media's "perfect art" is something I'll continue to think about anytime I want to make art or encourage myself to do so. Thank you.

This year I made a new year resolution to post an artwork on IG every week (which ended up being every two weeks :/ ) and it honestly helped me to be less self conscious about my art. I don't do it for likes, I don't put tags or promote the account, instead I treat it more like a public progress journal, it's great to see how much you improve in a year. Also it help me connect with other artists, both irl and online, which has been amazing, as art can often be a very solitary activity. Great video!

Honestly it's surprising how helpful that can be, I know showing my art has definitely made me more confident with my work, which led me to being motivated to put even more time into it, so i ended up being much, much better at it - just from showing people my art. Sadly I'm still not comfortable showing people my drawings of people, cause that still feels too personal, but I'm sure it would help a lot. I hope you keep going with that new years resolution, hearing and seeing artists like you has really helped me a lot. Good luck!

I feel like everyone's way too hung up on "originality", nothing is truly original and it shouldn't really take away from certain pieces of art. Some renowned classic artworks from master artists can be considered fanart like with mythology and literature so I don't see how that's any different.

I haven’t finished the video but in the same line of thinking i used to hate people making OC’s of like Genshin characters for example. I thought it was unoriginal and like kinda cringey. It was when i grew up that i realized between me who never make any OC, and someone who do it practically every day by making OC’s of their favorite show/games that i realize they’re probably better character designers than i will ever be lol. At the end of the day, just do what makes you happy, improving at art is so very much hard enough without you worrying about this stuff already.

*Hard work can beat talent only if talent doesn't work hard* There's a strange and fallacious assumption that people who are talented don't work hard. While it's egalitarian to assume talent doesn't exist or isn't a factor, talent does exist and allows you to level up faster. While there isn't an artist gene, there are a host of a genetic factors which can appear as talent such as ability to learn fast, color discrimination, proportion, hyperphantasia (vs. aphantasia), and others.
@DrawingWithAvi

I agree with your sentiment that audiences are generally dismissive of the effort artists put into their craft and label it as "talent" as an all encompassing word. I think I did a poor job of discussing natural ability and its role in developing artists in this video. I'll definitely have to post another video about this topic soon! Thanks for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment. 😁

Talent is real. average artists love to cope for their inferiority. prodigies are everywhere. Hard work means nothing in art its about brilliance and what you can make period. You will never change that people thats always saying this are always below average or mid artists in the community speaking for the true geniuses and Visionary artist because they will never reach them all art are not equal, there are artist that grow at a rapid rate while some grow slow, some people understand things much faster some dont and so on i wish people would just accept your postions and move on your not the character
@DrawingWithAvi
@DrawingWithAvi Ай бұрын
While I agree there is such a thing as natural ability, I'd argue that success is never guaranteed for those that have it. All of the greats achieved their goals by pairing their passions with determination and hard work. If asked, I would suspect those visionaries you talk about would reveal the level of effort they all had to put in to outpace those with greater natural ability. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate the counter argument and the debate! 😊

i think talent is real. some people "pewdiepie" are just driven and have a inate desire to learn. Thats where the talent part comes in. If your not like that by nature you will not see improvement because your not that kind of person. Its very hard to change a habit but its even harder to change your inate self to the core.
@DrawingWithAvi
@DrawingWithAvi Ай бұрын
I agree that natural ability is a real thing, with people grasping concepts more easily or have better intuition with art early on. However, your determination and passion for the craft evens the playing field. I believe if an individual can incorporate some good habits and practice consistently, then they will outpace those natural advantages in time.

I like to say talent is just a starting point. It often gives you a starting advantage, and an aptitude for learning things faster that have to do with the thing you are talented with. But if someone with talent doesn't do anything with it, it just sits there. Someone without talent who is a diligent individual will eventually pass someone with talent simply because they put in the time and effort. Also, sometimes natural aptitudes don't line up with interests. Sometimes people have talents in areas where they have zero interest of any kind. If only we could swap talents when that happens 😅 Talent + Interest + Hard Work = Ideal No Talent + Interest + Had Work = Still gets you there Talent Or Not + No Interest + No Hard Work = Useless
