Super proud and happy for Eric. It takes courage to take this risk and it did pay off. I think the Asian parents mentality thing here is more prevalent in overseas Asian community where they're not the majority and in a way want to "stand" out, hence the occupation bias. I'm Malaysian of Chinese descent, I notice that happens here also even though it's Asia, but being minority, our parents have certain expectations for us and would sometimes compare us with the other races, seems racist I know. In order to pursue something that's not the norm, you pretty much have to be a rebel, I, too, am in a way a rebel, because I'd always ask, if we were born in China and every good son should become only doctors or engineers, who's going to do the cooking (chefs), the keeping of orders (police), the protecting (soldier), etc.?

Im Pretty sure having an engineer education can help alot in cooking too.
