The Marshall Tucker Band has been involved in some controversies, including a faux grassroots backlash and a disagreement over whether to continue the band after the death of Tommy Caldwell: Faux grassroots backlash The Marshall Tucker Band was involved in a faux grassroots backlash that led to radio boycotts and burning of Chicks CDs. The band's lead singer, Doug Gray, offered a free concert in Spartanburg when the Dixie Chicks played in Greenville. Continuing the band after Tommy Caldwell's death After Tommy Caldwell died in a car accident in 1980, the band considered breaking up. However, drummer Paul Riddle felt that Tommy would want the band to continue, and they called in Franklin Wilkie, a longtime friend who had played with the band in the early years.

I crank up Seger so loud the pavement cracks even down on mainstreet. Seger represented us everyday workfolk in our youth and his music is here for us as we reach roadmarkers along the road if life. Thanks Mr. seger.
