Should I go non power routing or power routing with DCC? Also should I insolate the turnouts?
@PeterCPRail8748
@PeterCPRail8748 2 жыл бұрын
It depends how big your layout is and how complex your track plan will be. The larger the layout and track plan I would create power districts and routing. As for the switches no need as they are power routing from the box. But wouldn't hurt if you are going to district and route your layout. On mine I had no routing as it was a modified oval with a small yard.

@@PeterCPRail8748 my layout is 12'X10'X8' Kinda sourounding the whole spare bedroom I have. It will have a 10 track yard. Then a classification yard for coal as well which will only be about 5 tracks. It just seems like there is no videos that take you step by step from beginning to end with DCC. Im also running 2 main lines. Now when running 2 mains, do you need 2 power bus? Or can I tie both tracks into one power bus? I jave so many questions. I ordered a book from KALBALCH for DCC wiring. Hopefully it answers my questions
@PeterCPRail8748

@@Dark2Light_420 that's the benefit of DDC you can run everything from one bus as the locos run off different decoders.

When reinstalling the point rails to the pcb throw bar tie, how do you keep the solder from flowing underneath the point rail and soldering the stock rail to it? This has happened to me twice.
@PeterCPRail8748
@PeterCPRail8748 2 жыл бұрын
I use a good higher wattage solder iorn and flux paste. The flux helps the solder flow just where I want it with a quick dab of the solder wire after I get the rail and pc board nice and hot with the iorn. The trick is heat and speed. To much solder and to much time will make it flow to unwanted spots. I also do one point rail at a time so I can keep the proper gab between rails so that helps as well with no overflow and unwanted bonding.

I always loved the styling of the first 2 gens of Ford broncos and the IH scouts and 200s of the mid 60s to early 70s. This is my way of owning one vicariously even if it's a RC car. Ever since the new bronco was announced the market for vintage SUVs from the 60s and 70s went up 10 fold in price.
