Some of the most fun sailing I had in my life was 1985-1986 sailing Lasers and Stars in Vilamoura. Duarte Bello was giving his masterclass sailing, and a great fleet of international sailors having amazing days on the water.

I sure wish course racing was still popular; or, at least available in the USA. As a former sailboat racer it was always my favorite windsurfing to participate in- not that I complained about getting to hop on my short board on strong wind days. I have always thought there should be a minimum wind requirement for course races. Not much fun racing or watching others race when you have to pump the sail the whole race.

It's not aerial loops, but there is a real art and beauty to this form of windsurfing, it brings back memories, Ioved the feeling of digging the far rail in, and the fine balance of being the front foot straps, heading up wind, you feel so connected to your environment.

There nothing like a longboard and a big sail powered up on the tail upwind. Although my kit is quite ancient 1985 F2 lightning WC Race, And Neil Pryde helium 8.5. but the feeling must be similar.

Every time i see this German friend, i can feel how much he loves raceboard from his heart. Very humbly dedicated.
