Have you considered off loading some of your extra liabilities like the travel trailer, and potentially even your land?
@OnAnUpswingАй бұрын
Hi! We consider it all the time..lol.. but a few things stop us from actually trying. We wouldn’t get too terribly much for the trailer unfortunately..not enough to even pay off the loan currently. We still use it for camping, and we still occasionally talk about trying travel nursing in it before our daughter starts preschool in a few years. So for us it currently makes more sense to hold onto it and pay it off. The land is definitely tempting to sell. We get offers on it pretty frequently. But we see it as an investment. We want to retire and build on it eventually. And it’s already almost tripled in value since we bought it. But yeah it definitely runs through my mind frequently how nice it would be to sell it and pay off a big chunk of debt! Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching!

Love how you made great use of your home, we as Americans are very spoiled sometimes, and we should be more greatful bc there are ppl with nothing and wish they had what you had!!
@OnAnUpswingАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching! Yes! I completely agree with what you’re saying. It really is a largely suburban American mindset to say that 1000 square feet is small. When really 1000 square feet is more than enough space if you simplify and get creative!

Yeah, Lucy’s awesome! She’s so relatable and down to earth. Thanks so much for following along on my fitness journey, and I wish you the best in your own fitness goals! Getting stronger is so difficult, but it also feels super satisfying when I see even minor progression!

What a clever idea to create a little enclosed space in your dining room for your daughter! I'm sure few people would have come up with that solution, myself included. Great video. ❤

Thanks! From the moment I found out I was pregnant I was trying to figure out what we’d do without enough bedrooms. It probably won’t work long term, but it works surprisingly well for now! Thanks for the comment, and thank you for watching!

I recently found your channel. I live close to the area where you live. Please check out the Step Ahead trash service. It is a wonderful family owned business, and the rates are much less than you are paying. I admire your determination and hard work to pay off debt, and I always love to see content about minimalism. Thank you for your transparency..it helps us all! God bless ❤

I know 1024sq is rather small by American standards (apart from cities like NY, SF etc.), but in Europe such space conditions are absolutely normal. You have a really nice house and I also think that a minimalist lifestyle and little living space actually complement each other perfectly
@OnAnUpswing2 ай бұрын
Hey! You’re spot on with your comment. It really seems to be a uniquely American thing to say that a home that is 1000 square feet is “small”. When I tell people I work with what size my home is the usual response is typically a concerned or incredulous look, but I love our place. It’s cozy and affordable and I can give the whole house a good clean in just a few hours which is awesome! But what you said is exactly what I said to my husband when we moved in. I told him that people all over the world live in places the size of our house or smaller. It’s just in suburban America it’s considered small! Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment!

Great video 😊 Me and my husband both do shift work. He's a RN on a normal medical ward and works permanent night shifts. I'm a police officer and work early and late shifts. Its hard going but just like you we don't have to pay for childcare as one of us is always at home with our 5 year old, so definitely worth the sacrifice 😊 x
@OnAnUpswing2 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! It’s so rare that things work out that way! I don’t know how it is in the UK, but child care is so expensive here that we would definitely be screwed financially if our schedules didn’t alternate the way they do. With what I make I’d essentially just be working to cover childcare, and at that point staying home would make more sense and we’d only have 1 income.

Hope you're feeling better now 🤞. I know you may feel like you you've not made much progress with your debt payoff but every dollar that you've paid is a dollar gone, so I'd definitely take it as a win 👍 x

Great video 😊 Your ensuite is the size of our upstairs family bathroom but instead of a shower we have a bath (with a shower attachment so that i can wash my hair over the bath). Our sink doesn't have any work top around it and its half the size of yours. We just have a little cupboard underneath and a little cupboard on the wall above the sink (same size as your black cupboard). We have 4 small bedrooms, (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs) none of which have ensuites. We do have a second bathroom on the ground floor which has a shower cubicle like yours and is probably the same size. Thought you'd like to know for comparison 😊 For us as a family of 6 (3 of my children are 18 + so technically adults and a 5 year old) we all use the same tube/bottle of toothpaste, shampoo and body wash, i find this helps to keep products to a minimum and only keep one of each item as a backup. We all have our own deodorant and skincare as these are kept in each person's bedroom x
@OnAnUpswing2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Wow! That’s such an impressive use of your space! We manage with our bathrooms as well. It’s not too bad except that we would love to have an actual bathtub for the baby. Thankfully though she’s pretty petite so we’ll probably get another year or so out of her little plastic tub.

Great video 😊. Just out of curiosity what is a crawl space? Is it like a mini basement? We don't have things like that in the UK. Thats a really good deep cupboard space, I'd definitely add some extra shelves in there 😁 x
@OnAnUpswing2 ай бұрын
Thanks again! It IS like a mini basement. You kind of have to crouch down to move around in it. We store things down there, but I never thought about putting up shelves. That’s a good idea!

Great video 😊. Just wondering if you're able to put slim storage boxes under your bed as that would make fantastic storage space? Storage in our house is non existent. We live in a chalet (basically it's a bungalow and what was the loft/attic is now our second floor) English houses aren't built with closets so we have to use freestanding wardrobes for our clothes. We have an ottoman bed which lifts up so that the underneath can be used for out of season clothing, towels and bedding...I also use it to hide the kids Christmas presents 😂 x
@OnAnUpswing2 ай бұрын
Thanks! No, I wish I had an under bed storage option, but our metal bed frame pretty much goes straight down to the floor. The next time I have to buy a bed frame I will definitely make sure it has that clearance to get some storage boxes underneath. I’ve thought about how useful that would be many times in this house!

Hello from the UK 🇬🇧. Great video 😁. Our houses tend to be on the small side (definitely compared to houses in the USA) so this doesn't feel small at all. Looking forward to watching your upcoming videos and I'll definitely be back watching your previous videos. You're doing a fabulous job 🤩 x

Hey! Thanks so much! And thanks for the perspective too! You are so right. My house may not be as big as the average American new construction home, but it’s most definitely big enough. I’ve also always liked smaller spaces more anyways. They’re cozy and relatively quick to clean and tidy up! 🙂
@elainhayter91442 ай бұрын
@@OnAnUpswing You have a beautiful home 🏠. I used to follow lots of American KZbinrs who did cleaning, organising and lifestyle content but I ended up unsubscribing, not because they were crap but because I just couldn't relate to them (they all lived in house's 5/6 times bigger than ours). You are so relatable and seem very down to earth. My husband is a nurse and I'm a police officer so I totally get the whole shift work thing whilst trying to keep on top of mum life. Your approach to paying off your debt is great and I wish you all the best with your progress. I'm half way through watching your past videos and have left a little comment on each. I hope your channel continues to grow, you really do deserve so many mores followers 🤞😁 x

I really appreciate your comments! It can be a pretty daunting process to start a KZbin channel, and it’s super encouraging that what I’m putting out is resonating with others. And it’s really cool to meet someone who can understand the challenges of shift work, kiddos and small space living. Thanks so much! You’ve made my day! 🙂

I watched your KZbin channel Very nice videos on your channel, I have watched all your uploaded videos and noticed all the videos are nice. But there is a small problem. Your video uploads have to do some work like (SEO) and help in getting future video views You are working so hard just to get views, now if the views don't come then your hard work is useless. All video SEO does, you will see that your video views will come. I Can Help if you want. Thank you, Have a Nice Day
