After his Navy service, Perryman hit on some hard times and ended up selling shoes with Al Bundy. Tragic.

This was my commissioning route. After college, 16weeks of GYSGT J.A. LITZLER USMC. (RIP). In Pensacola FL. I read the reason the Navy would not let them film in P’cola was the Dilbert Dunker scene. The Navy said the apparatus had a fail safe and a diver in the water. There was never a case where the D.I. would have to dive in and save the AOC candidate. So,they had to film it in Washington state. It changed the entire dynamic of what AOC school was really like. The one reality the film got right was that I admired and respected my drill instructor. His voice is still in my head 55 years later.

In the context of the movie its not needed. It would extend the running time. Plus all of them are college graduates so the average age is closer to 25 not 19. At that age you start to prioritise. Not everything with a pulse is worth it. And we can at least sorta justify it in universe if we assume that the Louis Gosset Jr. character at some point had a private talk with them 'I don't want her feeling awkward because you can't keep it in your pants so if I even feel like you're bothering her you'll deal with me'. That should be enough for most guys I certainly wouldn't want to end up on his bad side.

All military training environments IRL have pretty strict rules against trainees getting involved with each other like that. Not that that stops some of them sometimes.

The thing I like about this film is how Zack Mayo is transformed from an arrogant and selfish young man into a decent person at the end. Not just the scam with the belt buckles and the boots, but his original behaviour towards Paula is uinpleasant in the bedroom, hinting that the only women he had been with were prostitutes. However, we always see a good side to him like when he only hits the punks in the street after he warns them to back off and they refuse and how his relationship with Paula develops after a sour first night.

@i.m.Q.2 Жыл бұрын
When I say ENOUGH that means just that. I don't gjve a rats ass if they're connected to rogers or Kirby. Act or not. This is inexcusable. So as usual let's put on some act with the IG and ignore this. Threatened someone? You confront the SOB. Illegal? Rules of engagement. All is fair in love and war till it involves me. Right DOJ AND DOD?
@i.m.Q.2 Жыл бұрын
@DOJ-see the belt buckle thing? I get thrown under all the time. Why this video? Throwing your team mate under and refusing to help doesn't wash with DoD. See something? Say something? Let the keel hauling begin. I'm a 4F civilian whose adhered to the title 5 oath more than those I've been forced to confront-for years on end and without pay. I get robbed from and purposely exposed to who I am supposed to be protected from.

Love that introduction by Foley - 'Get your toes on the edge of that white line you slimy worms. I don't believe what I'm seein'. Where've you been all your lives - at an orgy, listenin' to Mick Jagger music & 'bad mouthin' your country I shouldn't wonder.'
