One thing I would be worried about is facing competition from freelance workers from let’s say india or the Philippines because they would charge far lower rates.

@@sirus2327 not so clear cut, people will also look for the cheapest rates. I’m sure people from lower cost of living countries can make a good dashboard as well.

Please make one video about the bare minimum topics we need to know to get an entry-level data analyst job. It would be very very helpful, like what I need to know in SQL, Excel, statistics, and Python (and anything we need to know).

That depends a lot on a lot of factors. Don't think it is that easy to say. I would look at job ads in your local area and then learn the skills they mention or are necessary to do what they mention.

#1 competition hits the nail on the head. As SOON as Google started advertising their Data Analytics Certificate on KZbin (in actual pre-video ads), I knew it was already too late.

This is an excellent video. Having good questions, and your critical thinking comments were very helpful. My original mental hang up was why if people are using a website login, which verifies with the database, was there a need for a data analyst.I now better understand it's for internal use questions. I know that sounds simplistic but test datasets look horrible and aren't insightful. This data set looks real world useful. Thanks for our real world insights. I like your short videos too. I'm at the point of making projects that used to look terrible, to ones I hope are interview worthy. Thanks for your efforts and education.

Not gonna lie bro, when I first clicked on this I thought this was just gonna be another fear bait video feeding off the whole lay-off anxiety going round, but I'm impressed! You put this video together well, and gave MANY useful tips that I've noted moving forward. Keep it up:)

Hi @rohan thank you for the video was waiting for it, but a bit disappointed the video seems rushed. Would like a more in-depth EDA, and advise on what is the industry practice when data seems misleading (e.g, avg student deposit) or insufficient (e.g. contact channels types) that data analyst adopts in such scenarios. This dataset taken from Kaggle is obvs limiting and wouldn't showcase skillset of dealing with industry-level datasets to an employer.
@rohanadus
@rohanadus 7 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I'll work on a more in depth EDA before releasing part 3. Regarding industry practice you'd want to check in with the Data Engineering teams, if it's a problem with the ETL or data collection. You would pause the analysis unless you have another "source of truth" table you can refer to. More than happy to expand on this in a video.

Understanding orde of execution is important i got to know that recently when I was studying subqueries....i had a doubt that if we give the subquery an alias in the select statement why can't we use the alias instead of writing the whole subquery again in the where clause condition.

It does have a significant impact on speed even in the worst case. Sending data from db to app takes a long time, sometimes longer than the query, so limiting to 100 results instead of 100'000 makes a huge difference. Now of course if you do some novel SORT, for example, that will be done for every row before the limit, but also after the WHERE. Where will be the biggest factor in performance usually, since it reduces the number of rows being worked on, hopefully using an index which will be faster than o(n). There is a point that could be made that limit doesn't always save you, but it almost always helps. I conclusion, your video is quite misleading.
@rohanadus
@rohanadus 8 күн бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! You make some excellent points. In the video, I was specifically talking about how LIMIT affects the query execution speed within the database itself. You're right that LIMIT can significantly reduce the data transfer time between the database and the application, which is definitely important, especially with large datasets. However, when it comes to the internal execution of the query, if the query involves operations like sorting, the database still needs to process all the qualifying rows before applying the LIMIT. That was the main focus of my discussion. But I totally agree that LIMIT helps in reducing the amount of data sent over the network, which can improve overall performance from an end-to-end perspective. I appreciate you bringing this up, and I'll make sure to clarify these points better in future videos. Thanks for helping me improve!

Hi, congrats :) I am a nursing 1st year (prev year in business). It"s not hitting for me in some areas (healthcare pressures can be rough). My mind veered to health informatics- and a careers guide directed me to my uni"s free access to LinkedIn Learning. I"m doing "Learning Data Analytics: 1 Foundations". It"s good and want to approach SQL next, or similar! Your encouragement was v helpful and I noted the resources. I don"t understand making a portfolio, as I don"t work with company data. Did you use a software, if so how (I believe you touched on it)? Another question is- many courses aren"t free...how can I learn but provide learning proof without a certificate? Good luck to our futures

I think the whole portfolio thing gets overblown too. Reality is most recruiters wont be checking every single project. Literally just work on 1 or 2 SOLID projects that encompasses most of the skills you need. Like technical SQL queries, Excel, visualization. Can even sprinkle some python in there too. I think too many are approaching their portfolio with a quantity over quality mindset.
