My family played this album thousands of times over the years. I need to listen to it so it feels like Christmas. Thank you so much for putting it online.

Perry Como was my grandma's favorite singer. I remember many Christmas Eves sitting up with Grandma, watching the snow fall from the sky and listening to this lovely album. Hearing it now, takes me back many many years and a tear or two escapes my eye. I miss my grandma who has been gone for over thirty years now- thank you for this sweet sweet flashback to many beautiful memories. Merry Christmas!!

Thanks for posting this rare Atlas roll :) - Can you tell me what the second leftmost set of pneumatics is for on your piano? The one on the right looks like a tracking pneumatic system, but I am not sure on the left side. Part of an expression system? Cut-off pneumatic?
@rcavictor120 күн бұрын
They are both part of the tracking system. They move in tandem. Expression pneumatics are below with the pumping bellows.

Yes the GE cartridge might have been the best in its day. Variable Reluctance is an old fashioned word for what we now call a moving magnet cartridge. Unlike the crystal cartridges of the day it required a preamp. The cartridge and preamp added a great deal of cost to the unit, so any phono with this setup was a premium phonograph. This same cartridge was on many home units and on multi speed units has the red button to push down and rotate the stylus for 78 or microgroove needles. An earlier version was 78 only and was used on the last of the Capehart turn over units.

This machine has a GE "reluctance" cartridge....now know as a moving magnet. They were considered one of the best in their day.

This month I bought such a tape recorder, but model 700. It was brought to Ukraine from Afghanistan in the 80s. Unfortunately, many American radio parts have been replaced with Soviet ones and the electrical circuit has been changed a little, because the voltage in our network is 220 volts and not 110 as in the USA. So far, it is not possible to find a basic electrical circuit to restore the tape recorder.

I’d love to learn this arrangement, but I can tell from the roll that it’s too many notes for just two hands.
