From what I understand, the yellowing is due to oxidation. The uv-light accelerates that process. Curtains will help, but oxidation will still occur. I've kept my favorite books in plastic air-tight containers. I use ezy storage containers. They are see through, but air tight, and my books look good as new. As a cool diy project, I think you should make plastic airtight covers (that look good) for each compartment of your bookshelf. Something that you can just "plug" into each opening. You can add a uv-blocking car wax to the outside of the containers. IF the walls of each compartment isn't air tight, you can use packaging tape to cover the edges and corners, and some talc powder to take the shine off the packaging tape. Something like that would be a good proto-model. I'm sure you can get fancier. A permanent solution, is something archivists do, I'm not familiar with it, but it involves chemically altering each page of your book, by dipping it in some chemical which removes the acid in the paper, but leaves the look unaltered.

That collection is awesome. I’ve been collecting mangas for six years, and even much, much longer because I started getting them for the first time in 2011 when a friend gave me a Naruto manga. As far as my collection now, I have all of Naruto, all the current volumes of Boruto, all of Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball, all the current omnibuses of One Piece, a few volumes of Bleach, Burn The Witch, all of Yu Yu Hakusho, all the currently made volumes of Hunter x Hunter, every single Yu-Gi-Oh! volume as well as all the spin-off mangas of it, I’m working on finishing Rurouni Kenshin, I have all the current ones for My Hero Academia, the two volumes of Barrage, all the current volumes of One-Punch Man, all of Dr. Stone, Food Wars, Assassination Classroom, Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, all the current volumes of Jujutsu Kaisen, some of Slam Dunk, Haikyu, D.Gray-Man, Claymore, Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Kaiju No. 8, Shaman King, Toriko, Gintama, Blue Exorcist, Undead Unluck, all of the current volumes of Black Clover, all of Death Note, the first volumes of all the JoJo parts so far, some of Inuyasha and Yashahime, some of Black Lagoon and Sailor Moon, all of Fairy Tail, The Seven Deadly Sins, some of Vagabond as well as all the Colossal Editions of Attack On Titan and all the Deluxe Editions of Berserk. I’m hoping to get a box set for Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: Re. A good amount of these were hard to get since some weren’t sold where I am, I had to order some series from America like Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Toriko and Gintama. I like to have all my Shonen Jump mangas together and I personally prefer getting omnibus versions of manga so a lot of the ones I listed are in 3 in 1 omnibus editions. I wish a lot more had omnibuses, but I’m still super happy with my collection and can’t wait to get more. I also have a lot of these as anime DVDs and Blu-Rays and many other like all the Studio Ghibli movies, Code Geass and so much more. I also have a ton of different anime character collectibles from series like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, My Hero Academia and many others.

Nice video, I have my comics in a very sunny room; one of the walls is all widow. However, I keep the widow shut in the morning when direct light would hit my bookselfs. Still, with no direct sunlight, spines have faded... Curtains will certainly protect books, but I think I'm going to try putting a UV filter film across my window.

I store mine in the ikea kallax with the doors installed ❤ does any of you guys have experience with the coloured manhwas? Like solo leveling? Do they also get yellow? Because the use different paper for those 🙈 Great video! ❤

mine havent yellowed but i also have blackout curtains in my room and no light besides leds behind a tv so I think your situation would matter I keep my room at cool temps as well

yes I have an AC unit and it doesn't impact manga at all its more about the humidity

I keep mine in the shelf in my closet to avoid light n a lot of dust and if I wanna use some manga to decorate my room I buy another copy of the same manga when it’s dirt cheap . Being a collector is hard 😞

Berserk is a fave of mine but Darkhorse deluxe release print is so-so after vol 8,as the ink is sOOOO faded even with good eyes it is kinda hard to read. Dont know if its just mine or a specific lot number. 3:05 in,I have one and two but stopped as PARASYTE is coming in Full Color and Hard Cover in the Fall this year.I have the 1st 3 pre ordered.

In my opinion, Osamu Tezuka is the most promising of the newer up-and-coming mangaka. Many like to say it's Tatsuko Fojimutu, but I quite hardly disagree. While Chainsaw boy is a good series at best, Tezuka's Message To Adolf and Buddha are absolutely sublime. Glad to see more people like to collect series from this very obscure unknown 19 years old mangaka.

Osamu Tezuka was 60 years old when he passed away in 1989 he was born 1928. If he was still alive he’d be close to 100 where did you hear about him being up and coming and 19 years old. Look him up. His manga are old.

My manga got wavy from humidity/moisture in the air. Do you have any tips on how to prevent this in the future and how I could flatten the manga ? Weight doesn’t seem to help.

the first manga i bought was a sailor moon one from norma (spanish version) and for me was cool bc the paper was a quite thick bond paper so i thought all mangas were like that lol then i bought some english versions of other mangas and they had bulky paper. i think bond paper editions last longer. in my case the WORST problem i have is humidity, that shit ruined all my life not only my books 😂

@@ottmaku I'm a small time collector, and I have a total of '3' 'long' running series under my belt. I've read the mainstream series but I also have stand-alone manga and 2 omnibuses, All You Need Is Kill + Another. They are Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul:re, The Promised Neverland an exception being Deadman Wonderland with 13 volumes. With Tokyo Ghoul + :re i followed them by volume and collected most of them individually whilst waiting roughly two months + basically when Viz media decided to release each volume. From Vol 9 of TG onwards I collected individually to Vol.16 of :re. With The Promised Neverland I followed the series after the airing of Season 1 pulled me in. However from collecting 1-5 I hit a snag. Vol 6 had a misprint with Haikyuu merging with the chapter titled The Human World. I waited for a reprint of Vol. 6 and from there followed from 8-20 alongside the airing of Season 2 which still didn't deter me from reading the final volume. Even when they cocked everything up and decided to showcase chapters I hadn't even had the chance to read yet. I read/collected the series by volume all the way to the end, despite the conterversy of the 'ending'. I'm passionate about these series, because it felt like a journey collecting/reading them, sadly I've also watched the downfall of both their anime's respectfully. (Tokyo Ghoul:re + The Promised Neverland Season 2) So for me my fav manga series are these two atm. Deadman Wonderland isn't terrible either, just it's got nothing on the time I invested in these two. I understand that my collection pales in comparison to 785+ in number, but I wondered if you had a favourite among them, or something you personally had a connection with? I get that there are huge collections of manga to choose from but I wonder if I personally would ever want 785+ volumes.... That's why I asked about how many you read as I don't have nearly that much space, and I wondered with such an expansive collection to choose from how often you 'd read them or reread them. I'm quite content with my small numbers as that works in my favour but given the chance to buy more I still think I'd continue to pick up series that I'll knowingly invest in from vol 1 onwards. 'One Piece' for example, i've attempted to watch it, and read it, but collect it? Currently I don't want that. I'll get by with what I have, I'm currently working on collecting Goblin Slayer, Goblin Slayer: Year One, Goblin Slayer: Dai Katana, I'm interested in the world and it's connections to Dungeons and Dragons. It also has references to Berserk. I'd thought I'd share my 'taste in manga' and my mannuerisms towards 'collecting' as i also wondered if there is more of a minimalist's approach like myself, not that i'm implying that that what you have is too much, more that you like what you like, and factors like space + budget are in your favour. I'm just sharing that I think differently when adding to my collection, because of my own circumstances, budget and personal taste. Sorry for the rant, I just had a lot I wanted to say.

Your collection is awesome, I actually really appreciated how you showed your collection really concisely in under 8 minutes, I love and do watch 1 hour+ videos but I don't always have time for them so this was nice. Would definitely check out a longer/chattier tour too though!
