We've had an automatic door bottom for our front door for over 20 years. For about the last 5 years, the seal doesn't come down all the way (on the side opposite the door hinge). So I stick my finger in there and pull it down. I've taken the door off on one occasion to examine it. As you've mentioned, there's a metal strip that flexes to push the seal down. I've tried adjusting that button on the Hinge end, but that doesn't solve the problem. Any ideas on how to enable this strip to deploy completely? I've thought about perhaps trying to stiffen that metal strip by gluing something to it to make it stiffer.

@absupplynet yes this is a hollo metal door 1¾ but the owner added a ¾ oak millwork on the inside office so yes the door is already bored

I have a 40 year old Mortise lock body and i am looking for a cylinder and key set with dimple keys for high security. The cylinder is 1 inch long and had a standard cam with horizontal screw holes and the center is open. What set would you recommend?

It's for a 45 degree or more slot. If the slot is in an inside corner, which is common, smashing it in there deforms the bulb and makes it look wrinkled.

Notably this is for an inside corner. Pemko has only 3 in this profile and 2 of them are black. The white one is 7/16" like shown in the video, which is pretty large, even if it compresses to 1/16".

If it’s happening at the 45 degree angle, it’s possible that your floor plate was installed backwards. The hinge should be traveling around a rounded edge (almost looks like a wheel).

Those are one way screws - short of grinding the heads off there's no way that you're going to pull those out using a traditional tool - i say this because I've tried - Richard

Thanks for the great video. I have a DL1200 that began beeping erratically so I changed the batteries twice but the beeping still persists. I did a factory reset and programmed a new master but the beeping is still happening. Whenever you press any button it causes rapid beeping at least 10 in a row and rapid red LED flash. However the functions of the lock still all work perfectly! Any ideas? Thank you!!

Press one key and it is maybe 10 rapid beeps all while the red light is flashing. Press the next key and same thing.. So basically I keep pressing keys to finish the five digit master code and it’s beeping very rapidly the entire time and flashing red light then upon finishing the sequence I get a quick green light and the lock unlocks properly. It happens like that every time. Changed the batteries multiple times. Tried to do a reset where you enter master code followed by AL button then 000 then AL and the lock resets to master code 12345 then I can reprogram a new code successfully all the while I’m getting rapid beeps after every key press. It is the most annoying thing ever!!

How do you cut the mortise on the door bottom? I'd think the easiest way to cut the mortise would be with a router, but what size of router bit would be required? I've been looking around and haven't found a 1/2" straight router bit with a 3/8" diameter that is longer than 1 1/4", but this is too short as the depth needs to be 1 3/8". Any help would be much appreciated.

I have spent over millions on doing fire poofing test, under UL and CNS, this material never had problem with catching on fire, but recently it starts on fire during the test almost every time… Is there a change in material or something? My company is considering to stop using pemko s88d, and looking for alternative brands

The only other problem I have seen with a Soss Hinge is using the incorrect quantity of hinges for their door weight. Such as needing a quantity of five 218 hinges or three of the 218H on a door, and they use three of the 218 instead of the Hercules. Even then the damage to the hinges wasn't awful.

This logic applies to all manufacturers tumblers though is not always as easy in real life as pins and keys become worn and it is not unheard of to use non-standard tumbler lengths and not factory standard cut depths so as to thwart this type of easy bypass.

@@absupplynet, _these EuroCylinders from ABUS and/or CISA comes with several different lengths, there are different cutting cards, 01 till 16 (1 till F), or Zeiss Ikon, there are also many possible cuts possible. ....._ _i guess with SC1 or KW1 keyways lots of different manufactures use them, so it is everything possible .... and so on ..._

Do you know if the hold open shaft that goes up from the knob is replaceable? People have been just pushing the door into the hold open position without releasing the knob and the shaft has worn a groove in it and no longer holds open.
