True - without much weight and if the shelf is not the full width, the Knape & Vogt will "wobble" a little bit. Consider adding on or more of the accessories as seen on page 72 here: s3.amazonaws.com/s3-absupply-net/pdf/knapev_cabinet_hardware_catalog.pdf

@@conman20000 a 10" bracket typically takes a 10" deep shelf, but you will likely find the actual shelf depth to not be ideal. Measure your bracket and make/order/install the best depth shelves.

My house was built in '92 with Peachtree windows and doors. Until doing some searches I did not know that no manufacturer of weather stripping produces a product that can instill in 1/4" kerfs. Thanks for the mention of a fix using 1/8" shims. I had some 1/8" board laying around that I cut with my table saw into enough 1/2" strips (the depth of the kerf) to replace the weather stripping. I did not even have to glue the shims into place. When I started installing the 1/8" weather stripping the fit was perfect and would not easily come out. It was literally 'Easy Peezy, Lemon Squeezy!'
@absupplynet9 күн бұрын
Let it be known that “where there is a will, there is a way” and with even a reasonable amount of determination the unexpected can and does happen. I've often suggested to clients that they consider creating shims for this exact purpose and you're the first person to report back that they had great success.* If anyone does need shims I would be able to easily make them on my CNC and would be happy to quote a cost to supply them. [email protected] For the rest that might find it difficult to create shins we do still say have some inventory of the conversion extrusion as seen here: absupply.net/searchfast.aspx?KeyWords=conversion+extrusion I'd love to see photographs if you don't mind. I have also considered the concept of simply adding a self adhesive pile to the back of the non barbed side of the modern curved in style weather stripping to take the same place as the shim does.

If your position is that most doors with the most expensive or cheapest locks, or with our without latch guards can still be kicked in, defeated or bypassed? If yes, quite true. The common logic is "locks keep honest people honest". I can tell you from actual experience items like the Don-Jo ILP latch protected are known to be a effective deterrent to break in and other means of destruction or non-destructive bypass and if is the non-destructive types of bypass that the Don-Jo ILP is meant to thwart. It is effective and I know of what I speak regarding this hardware - Rich

It looks like someone can still get in. I moved to Arizona from Alabama, and Arizona’s crimes are off the charts. These people will get in anything. I live in a gated community and the thieves make their way into here too. It looks like since the screws isn’t on the inside of the door frame but on the outside, it is easier to pry open.
@SS-yf9yv10 күн бұрын
I do appreciate your response and reassurance of the safety . I live in a very safe neighborhood fortunately. Tucson has more crime than the rest of the country combined as far as I can see. I moved here due to my job. I’m originally from Alabama where people don’t pry into your house unless they are beyond stupid. Out here, there people will break into a bank vault if they get close to it. Yes, I do get scared sometimes and I am looking for more ways to stay safer.

Not even his wife was allowed to have a key, for Judson Webb loved his personal possessions and felt a sense of deep outrage if they were touched by any hand but his own."
