I'm a longtime fan of Melville. I enjoy ed everything about this movie except the presentation of Delon's character, which i find absurd beyond belief. Melville simply didn't understand the genre yet, and needed the collaboration he found later with someone who'd actually been in the milieu himself. Has there ever been a guilty criminal in any movie who looked at all times, in all situations, like such a guilty criminal as Delon does here? What policeman, even a rookie, wouldn't take a careful look at Delin's character? His look, his walk, his style, everything about him is suspicious. Melville did much better work later in his career.

Das Badstuber in so einem Spiel starten durfte, war natürlich irre. Kroos als Manndecker von Pirol ebenso irre.

Scholl hatte Recht! Wenn man sich die Qualität der Einzelspieler anschaut, hatte man vom Feeling her eigentlich ein gutes Gefühl. Schade, dass es dann dennoch nicht gereicht hat. Aber ganz generell sollte man, direkt nach einer Niederlage, solche Aussagen nicht so hochsterilisieren!
