1. Like the idea of Republic 2. In the republic, people vote for their representatives, in the best case scenario 3. Plato laid down an idea of an ideal republic, so people would create perfect coutries

In the end, we always reach point B, which suggests that by accessing a higher dimension, we could bypass certain steps and arrive there directly. That's how I interpret what’s happening on the quantum level. Particles don’t move linearly from one point to another; instead, they pass through higher dimensions and emerge in what seems like a random location

teaching gender to the typical occidental is like teaching secular history to an abrahamic pyramid scheme member (lot of overlap in fact) teacher: so this is the greek pantheon, they believed in many gods. some people reject their beliefs and do not worship any gods. there is not an objective number of deities that human species use in their daily life, there are thousands of known languages after all. similarly, a form of communication studied as gender also has many... abrahamic: rrrRrRreeEEEE NUHH DAT IS WOKE AGENDA, DER IS ONLY ONE GOD. HOW CAN THERE BE MORE THAN ONE OR ZERO GODS, TIKTOK LOGIC!!1! teacher: right karen, we know you were indoctrinated into ethnocentrism... and this goes back farther than a few decades, predating tiktok and even your country... as i was saying about actual empirically recorded behavior... abrahamic: U HAVE TO GIVE ME A SAFE SPACE!!! MY SALES MANUAL SPECIFICALLY SAY ONE GOD ONLY!!1!

remember that the caste system was a later addition to hinduism. the earlier teachings did not contain it. Some Brahman's later on thought it was agood idea but later we know it wan't. in hinduism you are not obliged to follow rigid doctrines and you can change things too. that's what makes it great..it's a flexible adaptive system always considered a work in progress.

As a Hindu i can say that Most of the things he said are correct except those about the Gita and cast (there is no word for cast in india,it is different from verg and jati ) But , your cast is decided by the work you do and you role in society and not by birth . Then Again ,As you know a person how is weak genetically (all generations are born with weak body) can't be chatriya (warior) so they change between vashya (merchants) or shudra (labour) but whatever cast they choose or endup in they should perform it .

What causes people to fall short of the ideal? It seems like a dumb question. Aristotle said lack of will and/or knowledge, but if the ideal of a person or thing was built into everything from the beginning, why doesn't this include some mechanism to prevent it from having the potential to have lack of will or lack of knowledge in the first place? to prevent it from "missing the mark" as it develops. More speificaly, where dose the 'potential' for lack of will and lack of knowledge comes from in the first place? as it seems to contradict the idea of nature "wanting" to follow a blueprint. It seems to me like an outside force acting in opposition to nature's ideals is necessary for this concept of an ideal blueprint to be logically sound...

It's wrong to say that Plato's Republic is a communist socio-economic structure. Communism is state less money less and class less society where the means of production are socialized and the divisionof labour abolished. None of these are the case with Plato's Republic.
@olivertodd7323 ай бұрын
His philosophy is communal in the most basic sense of the word, not in the modern day (thousands of years later) sense

Mahayana is more akin to a western & Hindu beliefs in salvation by a supernatural power of beings, reliance on salvation from higher power. Theravada however sticks to the original Sidhatta Gautama Buddha 's teaching & path of practice of mindfulness meditation for self salvation or enlightenment. Gautama Buddha always said he is just a human, not god or supernatural being. He taught Dhamma to others (he is not selfish ) but it's up to each individual to achieve enlightenment. Btw, the picture of Mahayana is incorrect. It shows Theravadas monks in Myanmar. Mahayana monks don't go alm rounds.

The last one is iffy because free will is useful until it isn't. For example retribution as a goal for dealing with criminals is immoral if we don't have free will since they couldn't have done otherwise. Rehabilitation would be the best choice for prisoners in this case. We don't have to assume we have free will. We just have to assume we can change and it is true that people can change if given the right motivation and help
@Henry-yh6vv9 ай бұрын
Yeah, but we wouldn't be morally responsible for doing the "immoral" thing.
@classbreaker3612 Жыл бұрын
I think the first argument doesn't follow because the ability to even make the best choice is not even up to you. Emotions and desires can affect Deliberation. Humans take risks all the time. Those that don't take risks just don't have the disposition to make risks or maybe they don't have a strong enough desire to make the worse decision. People who cheat on their spouses are good example of people having a desire strong enough to risk their marriage and maybe even family life.

While I appreciate the effort you took in making the video, I have a question about the epistemology of gender studies: On what standards does it necessitate that gender should be considered a specific characteristic worthy of separate examination from natural sex? I believe that the distinction is unnecessary and confusing at times, especially outside the academic cycle and as exemplified here in some of the unfriendly comments. It has been noticed that genders have played an important role in human societies throughout history, yet as in the case of the Paleolithic and some sub-Saharan tribal societies, societies may also assign to each of the genders(sexs) different social expectations and roles. So the real focus here should be how genders(sexs) correlate to various social roles in different times for cultural reasons instead of drawing a line between gender and sex which used to mean in same thing in most parts of modern English.

I think the 'ideal human form' serves as a governing principle. A human by himself will never reach this perfect state as long as he is born into this world. However, society or a state is crucial to guiding man towards perfection. To be happy he has to be perfect, to be perfect, he needs guidance, guidance is provided by the society and thus a society needs to be well-functioning. So I think society is like an important cogwheel to achieve eudaimonia.

I find Stoicism very helpful when dealing with life’s unavoidable circumstances. And I think that is because it just makes sense to me, but it can be hard to practice on a day-to-day basis (mainly because sometimes is very hard to notice progress). If you’re not mature enough intellectually, you might give in to your emotions and find yourself trapped in a cycle of pleasures over and over again. This happens to me from time to time, but I keep trying to improve myself regardless, even if that means starting from zero.

I have arrived at a personal philosophy similar to an evolved version of Epicureanism. I seek pleasure in all experiences, even painful ones. When something inevitably passes, I accept it and find contentment in reminiscing about what it was. There was a video I saw when I was depressed that shook my core as a teenager. The guy on it said the following: "Sadness in a certain sense is good, it makes you see other things that happiness doesn't let you see." I think I started developing myself from there...
