That’s why jiu jitsu will never be considered a “fight”. Like everyone watching knows if slams were legal he’d be spiked into the ground unconscious, but instead his opponent is forced to support his weight and pretty much accept the strangle. That’s why especially in the gi it’s hard to watch because a guy will pass around like he’s the king of the world after wining a match in which rules saved him.
@TheBJJMentalCoachКүн бұрын
Most people don’t consider Jiu-jitsu a “Fight”, it’s a grappling match with rules. What if someone say: “How come you can’t choke in Wrestling? If this person turns their back in a fight they would get choked! Stupid rules.” The best thing is to enjoy the martial art you like.👍
@mikegold3130Күн бұрын
@@TheBJJMentalCoach you didn’t get my point. Jiu jitsu specifically no go is far more entertaining because the risk of slams let people know the danger of holding onto subs like a triangle when somebody stands up. In the gi they are more strict on slamming so you can get away with moves like this that would be so unrealistic in a real self defense situation. It’s mainly a gi problem because you shouldn’t be able to have someone hoisted over your head and then be forced to hold them up and allow them to strangle you. It’s just a ruleset issue. And people most definitely call jiu jitsu a fight. Even pros will talk about a match coming up and say “fight” instead of match. My whole point is banning slams make the sport look less realistic.
@TheBJJMentalCoachКүн бұрын
@@mikegold3130 That's the beauty of the internet. Let’s agree to disagree.😉 By the way, Fight 2 Win lets people slam; however, they have a different type of mat/platform. As far as I know, the biggest No-Gi event in the World, the ADCC, doesn’t allow slams from the triangle.
@mikegold3130Күн бұрын
@@TheBJJMentalCoach for ADCC you can slam in order to escape a submission. Same with CJI which is likely the new biggest show in town. But that’s no gi which has been pushed to bring in more eyes, for gi im not sure of any big time events that allow slams. But as you said we can agree to disagree, everyone’s untitled to their own opinions that I can’t fault you for wanting to keep slams illegal.
