It was bleak but pretty chilled out until I got lost, then it was just unnerving and stressful. Definitely do some more hikes up that way.

Hi Mark. I parked at the Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre and cafe. LL21 9TT will take you there. Search Alwen and Brenig on AllTrails and the hike is there with some more info.

It was a stunning walk just very stressful up to the far dam. Mostly flooded. Shoes and socks came off several times to get through 😆

There is a really steep bit on Parhouse Hill that feels like it's above a sheer drop - my friend and I needed help from two kind chaps to get down!

Cracking video. Well done for getting over that reservoir! This about the distance we do with the LDWA on their challenge walks. Someone should film those! Yes there are folk who walk/run the longer distances on those - 36 miles in 5 mins(!) but for those of us hefty hikers we do about 17 miles in 7ish hours...and feel pretty proud of it.

Superb Hefty. I joined you for the whole walk. The Cambrians are a favorite of mine for sure - looks like you got it on a great day. It was good to see the Claerwen again. I've dossed down in that toilet. The hikes on my channel if interested. It's called: The Wild Irfon way P1&2. Well, I imagine you got back buzzing. It was certainly a good route and the photos turned out well. All the best out there. Mark

The path to Claerwen was flooded in quite a few places. Shoes and socks off! Great hike though. Glad I caught it overflowing.

I missed Gaping Gill by yards without realising, and the second half of the walk was a little dull, but I did enjoy it overall. Good test for the first walk of the year.
