Looks awesome. I never understood why everything materialises on the same side of the Planet that we are currently on. If I was the bad guys, I would materialise on the opposite side of the Planet. Just saying.

I read a lot of hard sci-fi and realistic space combat would bear little resemblance to what is portrayed here. With that said, realistic space combat would be BORING and not very entertaining visually.

There are two games in this universe. The one you see here is Squadron 42. A single player story. Announced to release in 2026. The other is a sandbox MMO called Star Citizen. Currently playable in very early access. It releases when its ready. I have been playing it since 2015 ish. Having a great time with many many friends. if you are interested in researching more, its huge rabbit hole to go down. But is way worth it if you like a world like this. There is a free fly event starting in about 36 hours that will let you play in the MMO for free. And fly any of the ships that are currently in game. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Cause it gets confusing. The project is huge, with a lot of details.

Why do sci-fi writers and games designers always fight space battles on single horizontal planes? Space is huge and 3 dimensional. Why do they always do traditional my “side” is here the bad guys are there, let’s go in a straight line at each other on this flat plane. Surely someone mast have done a large space battle in 3d? 😂

That's something that's always bothered me too. How does everyone know what direction is "up" and "down" in space?

@@IrishInsanity1I’m guessing it’s to do with writers being brought up with traditional battles on earth. Then to battles in the sky during our various wars. Even though they were fought in a basic 3d (earth’s atmosphere) they were kind of on a flat narrow plane. Certainly at the start of the engagement. You look at the battles in Star Wars, Star Trek, Enders game and many more, they never optimise the full 3 dimensional aspects of space. I’m also guessing it’s so us mere mortals can follow what’s happening. 😂 But it kind of annoys me if I was fighting in outer space I’d attack from multiple directions and multiple planes at the same time.

That's nicely explained in Star Wars. I cannot remember the details, but it's normal for humans, due their psychology. They want it this way and it f*cks their mind up if everyone is looking in a different direction. They naturally search for this order
