I wasn’t seeing it then I looked away for a second and wow 🤯 it was iris!! I ❤️ irises they are one of my favorite flowers. I like splatters too because the white page next to flowers is too stark . On your carnations video what white gouache do you use? I would love for you to do dahlias. I have several sword brushes like 8 different brands but never use them because I’m not comfortable with them . I will definitely try them . I basically just use my round or my rigger. Or fiber once in a great while for peonies. Great video and I have watched all your video this am and will paint your carnations today and paint your video one every other day

I'm so glad to hear you're happy how your iris turned out 😄. I use splatters on most of my paintings, they add textures, interesting details and looseness to watercolors, I love it. Another great idea to add some splatters with complimentary colors, I'll make demos in upcoming videos. I used to paint lots of realism and very detailed botanicals, but find this style too boring now, and not showing any personality and expressive vibes, and the process to paint loose and intuitive more pleasant to me 😊. I bought this gouache 6-7 years ago, and still on the same tube LOL (it's Da Vinci amzn.to/3PLAG01), but you can use any other one. I have dozens of brushes, different brands, but use only a few. Same with paints, I test new ones, but still keep my palette kinda limited to my favorites. Try to play with your brushes more and test different brush strokes, sometimes it takes time. I'm more into intuitive and loose style at this moment and started experimenting more, this is how I came up with irises using a dagger brush, I painted them with my round before and after using a dagger found some really cool loose strokes and really enjoyed the process and a result. Carnation is my birth flower and I have never liked it but this is beautiful . I’m going to have some coffee and try it this morning before kids get up for school. Thank you for the step by step and not skipping step or time lapse . We can speed it up if we need to . Also thank you for keeping supplies and colors limited .
