From what I saw, it’s rather expensive, compared to a Laser sailing boat; about 2000€ more…

Yes, I would love to see how did you put that boat on a car top. :) I've found my Literace 1x heavy (77 lb) and really awkward to lift for a solo person. It's a real challenge if you have a tall car like SUV. I am showing my car topping attempts in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6rEY6qhq9iohtk

I am really enjoying David's book. Highly recommended! At 69, after 55 years of paddling and racing kayaks, canoes and SUPs, I am learning solo sculling with Literace 1x rowing shell in Colorado. My training didn’t go as expected due to back problems and other health issues. Despite these setbacks, I am making progress, though I am still limited to short rowing sessions of about 4-5 miles. On the bright side, I’ve been taking plenty of pictures and videos, and posting them on my youtube @FitOver67 channel. Of course, I wonder if there are any other Liteboats or similar coastal rowing shells in Colorado or vicinity.
@pieintheskyarenal6 ай бұрын
I love this! I just bought one this morning! I have done quite a lot of sculling, but I am not as young as I used to be either. I'm also going to be rowing on a big lake (Lake Arenal, next to the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica), so the wind has a little more fetch, and it will sometimes be a little choppier than the rivers I am used to. I can't tell you how excited I am about getting back out there!

Thanks for this post. Got in contact with David because the book would only be shipped to US or Canada. He’s a great writer and found perfect word for the experience of rowing. He’s not just writing about it, he’s feeling and living it. Wish him and everyone here not necessarily „gold medals, but golden moments“ with a rowing boat.

Of course the LiteSport is faster. As a sports car is faster than a family car. But it doesn't really matter, as the X Row seems to have both a pretty good glide and speed and a lot of comfort. And I'm sure the X Row is a lot more seaworthy than the LiteSport, as the stability is a lot higher. I have done 5.5 knots average in my LiteSport over one hour, and a max speed (few seconds) of 8 knots on flat water. The LiteSport is really funny and sporty to sail, even in waves, but it's quite technical too, when it gets tough (but surprisingly safe). What seems more interesting is the X Rows ability to carry luggage for cruising and maybe a stay over night in a bay somewhere out there - that opens for a lot of fine adventures. And I find it a very pretty design too :-). All the best Per - Denmark

Hello, LiteSport 1X is the old name of the LiteSport 5.0, so it's the same boat! We named it 5.0 when we lauched the lightweight version of this boat, the LiteSport 4.6.

Tks for sharing. Very touching. David is a poet and philosopher ... so well spoken, on the point. Indeed for some of us who love this motion, its a liberation of the mind from all the burdons of land life. And adapting to the boat's needs it gives us all back to enjoy the skulling in nature close to the elements. I am just at the beginning (5th rowing session in last 2 weeks) ... but having rowed for more than 30 years on the indoor machines, I did know that its "my thing". Running is a torture, mountain biking out door is ok, skating is fun ... but all the required motions on these sports tools required parts of the body. While rowing at such is "whole motion". Tks to David for his wise words. It encourages me to move on my own personal rowing journey (just at age of 59). ;-)

Since I am David’s N. California rowing partner, I can vouch for his LiteBoat commentary. Although I usually row in standard racing shells & open water Maas boats, I am very impressed with the LiteBoat’s versatility! Perfect shell for open water and off-shore rowing! BTW David’s book about beginning rowing is well done; a very useful resource for first-time rowers at any age! Phil Jonik

awesome ... today I had my 4th training unit in a single skiff C1 ... at the very beginning to learn the technic. With a background in 45 years in sailing the dream is to have one day a coastal rowing boat ... seems a good concept you realized with the Xrow model.

is it possible to add the front row system to this boat? or do you have a front-row system that one could have as an option when purchasing your boat? that is really what I am looking for! or a double set up so two people can row facing each other! that would really nice for a couple 💞

Hi, we tried this system... it's not a good choice! Very heavy, complex, expensive, we decided not to implement it on our boats. The idea is interesting but the reality is far from it!

@@liteboat how then to safely row in the canals and between the islands here in Stockholm when teens come rushing on water scooters? I like rowing a lot, but I am not sure how to maintain safety for oneself when one rows in my area.... how do rowers solve the lack of total awareness of what is in front of you without getting a neck pain? I like to get into rowing, but I am just not sure how to do it well in my area.. I also wonder if people pull up their rowers each day on land or let them rest in water and rent space for that normally? what are the standards of how one maintains and one store the rowing boats like yours when living in a city in an apartment? thanks for getting back and hope to learn more from you guys, I am new to this!
