Did this version ever get released? He sings it harder in this version, kind of a shame if the full quality isn't available. This should have been a big breakout hit like Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I was coming off mushrooms following a Butthole Surfers show in nyc and was handed a copy of Key Lime Pie on the subway by an exhausted Virgin foot soldier. A successful road trip to say the least. Totally love both eras of CVB.

It takes a certain amount of dedication to the cause to troll a crew like David Berman fans. Well-done, I hope you enjoy working your ass off to make the sales quota this quarter, you might be able to afford fucking a pornstar escort *and* paying your kids speech therapist if you do! and, perhaps, like yourself for a moment afterwards.

I have a song called "Highway Seven's Moon" -- pretty close... wrote/recorded it when I lived just off Highway 7 in, I think, 1994. You got there driving south from Oxford. Sometimes the moon would be up and kinda hovering over the road. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnrJqHZnbL6jn5o

I was there. I flew up from San Diego with two friends just to see it. Thanks for uploading this, because I've talked and thought about this many times since then and always wondered if I'd ever see it again. The thing that strikes me the most now upon second viewing is there's at least three different parts from those early drafts of new poems that wound up recycled into Purple Mountains lyrics.

OMG, found it, finally! Wondered if I would ever see this again. Morgan called me up one day and asked me if i would like to do her a big favor, that she was now playing with CVB, and would I let them shave my head for a CVB video they were going to be shooting in the old civil war bunkers in the Marin headlands (GGBNP&RA). She was my first love and how could I refuse. I woulda done it for free, but the $50 was also nice. It was rather amusing to see all that went on behind the scenes in music video production. David Lowery was a super nice guy... the entire band was. I did not get to really talk to Morgan as much as I would have liked. There was a lot of stuff going on in my life at the time which made it hard and awkward. Never saw her again in person... It would be so nice to reconnect just to say hi to a truly talented fiddler and an old friend who's influence and talent lives on in my heart as my dear-most inspiration.

this is a strange and terrible mtv friendly mix. if this had been the mix that they had used on the album, i doubt that i would have ever even liked this song. damn, that "go, go, go" chant is so unbelievably bad. and doing away with the primary guitar track in favor of a cowbell was so hideously lame. the backing harmonies were a terrible idea too, MTV all the way. wtf were they thinking? i'd bet money that CVB would just like to forget this video existed. they tried so hard to sell themselves to teenage America for a while there but the mainstream listeners just weren't buying into it. the only people who i knew that liked CVB "back in the day" was 80's neo-deadheads. (thank God they no longer exist. amirite?). Key Lime Pie was the closest CVB came to being acceptable on a large scale. KLP is actually the only album of theirs that i can tolerate listening to the whole way through. i imagine they had a great deal of outside help on the production of KLP because nothing else that they ever recorded even comes close to it. except maybe a song or two from Revolutionary Sweetheart, which could have been throwaways from KLP.
@JasonUmbrellabird4 жыл бұрын
@CMCW I agree, they culminated with KLP for me, I have all their other stuff which I still enjoy, but KLP is sublime.

the whole thing is different....or im super baked. my "teen spirit"...love the lo-fi years, but they were equally great on the major label albums--both great. i was handed the lp by a promo footsoldier on a nyc subway coming from a Butthole Surfers show. when i got off they were all over the place...i, victim of mushroom laced Scorpion Tea from the show earlier, picked up as many as i could and made sure they wound up in the right hands. i still have 2.
